Right. You are probably the only person this is going to affect. I thought about you before making the decision, and almost didn't because it directly works against the way you play on the rim. But I think the width brings the game closer to my vision.

Alright, I'm killing CYCLE_WIDTH from the settings. I found an instance where it breaks the realistic effect I was going for. A player double-backed on me against the rim and I quickly followed suit, but when I passed them their cycle exploded because of the resulting width between my wall and the rim. This is not an uncommon maneuver, so I would hate to see people punished for an excellent move.

The yellow one, as the blue one moved past it.
Shouldn't yellow have cut off blue while he was still ahead?

Can I just ask what this competition is? Or any link where I can find info on it (if it's a recurring tournament)?

This drawing is not to scale and this all happened very quickly. Both the gold and blue players used a considerable amount of rubber to turn against the rim, neither had enough to make another turn to the inside, which was a smaller area than cycle_delay would allow. The whole event took just over a second.

It is recurring, about annual or semi-annual (this is number 5). It is 3v3 deathmatch, incam view only. No zones, no mini-maps. The rubber is low, but is hardly a factor since most players are completely disoriented by the view -- it evens out the playing field. Everyone is equally bad in this server, haha.

You got me thinking and I will take your suggestion to raise the kill score. Here is what I have in mind:

100 pts. to win.
+5 pts. for Core Dump
-2 pts. for Suicide

A perfect game would end in the seventh round. This is shorter than the previous 25 point game which is probably needed if points are subtracted occasionally.

Why do I have to glance when I turn?

For example if I turn left, I am still looking in the original direction my cycle was going. I have to glance left to look the direction my cycle is going.

Check the following setting:

Player Setup >> Player 1 Settings >> Camera Setup >> Center Int. Camera: On

Dunno whether that still works, but it would switch to incam from smartcam whenever you are in tight tunnels.

This tournament starts in less that 24 hours. If you signed up, thank you for your interest. A few things you should know:

In addition to setting your team name, you can also change you team's color. For example, to change the red component of team 1's color to 8, you would type /admin team_red_1 8. If you don't have a full team and would like to use the AoT bots for teammates (they are very good), you can use the settings TEAM_MIN_PLAYERS and TEAM_BALANCE_WITH_AIS to select most combinations of 1-3 human and AI players. Please coordinate with your opponent while doing so.

One last note: There is a chance this will be the last time the game has brake-boost. Or, the brake-boost and acceleration will be quite different. I can't decide. My vision of this game has you "driving" your cycle, not just using wall acceleration. I might have to play me some other Lightcycle games and see how I feel about them.
