Like I said somewhere else, I'm terrible at identifying genres, but that almost seems more like pop then country :/

It's an alright song though

Yeah, that's not country. Almost everything called "country" these days isn't country. It really began diverging in the late 60's with "country rock," then really took off in more of a pop vein in the 70's, and has only diverged more and more, and become worse and worse ever since. As an illustration of how absurd it has gotten, this stuff now being labeled "alt country" is a great deal more authentically country-sounding the stuff in the mainstream being marketed as "country."

I may come back later with some song links later, if and once I've collected them.

Aw, come on, man. I'm not much of a Beach Boys fan, but comparing them to the Bee Gees is a total disgrace to them. You may as well have compared them to Hanson or somebody; there's just no comparison.

I don't know about that, but it beats the pants off of Sgt. Pepper's.

I'm kinda surprised I beat sinewav to this: Wendy. (The harmonies aren't as audible or well-performed here, but I prefer to directly link to live videos whenever possible.)

I knew that Brian Wilson got depressive and seclusive because the album, some months ago I saw a documentary where he explained that he wanted to beat Revolver (wikipedia says it started with 'Smile'). This article here isn't about his mental illness but I thought it's a good read:

Hundred Million People - Treble Charger

If you like Sum 41, G.O.B, any of those Canadian rock bands you'll probably like this song

OMG OMG YESSS and.. Want you gone from GlaDoS too!! Awesome game, you cannot die without trying Portal 1 and 2. Awesome games. Awesome laughs.

@Word: I didn't know those Beach Boys songs. Liked the first one better.

@Mkay: how the hell do you call that country!? this is country (mixed with some rock and roll touches) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ks8M1rvmifk Jerry Lee Lewis - Johnny B. Goode if you want more country-rock check Bill Halley or Chuck Berry. Phytotron, link to some pure country please?

@Clutch: that was a really bad song. I mean sum41 is just ok, and i'd say they are bad, but I like some of their songs even if they are annoyingly commertial style. The one you posted was just making noise.

Check out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04mfKJWDSzI&ob=av2e Gorillaz - Melancholy Hill

Er, no, that's not country with rock and roll touches. That is straight-up, classical, original 50's rock'n'roll and rockabilly. Now, early rock'n'roll, and especially rockabilly, was derived in part from country music (of the period—not to be confused, of course, with more modern "country"), but it was equally derived from western swing, the blues, jump blues, rhythm-and-blues, boogie-woogie, even ragtime and jazz to some extent. Of course, individual players employed more or less of a given style—e.g., Buddy Holly had more of a country flavor, Little Richard was heavy on R&B and boogie-woogie.

Yeah, if and when I get around to collecting a few good examples.

cool, Gonzap :)

Canned Heat - Fried Hockey Boogie

Don't have any country song, but the early Grateful Dead could be close to it:
Sitting on Top of the World - Grateful Dead

Nope. That was a country blues standard the Dead and Crapton shat all over.

You call my song commercial and then post gorillaz? I also said something along the lines of "if you don't like sum 41, you won't like this." So you can't say it was unexpected at the very least.

Money for Nothing - Dire Straits
