put all pros in one the upper half on the bracket and the "not-so-good-ones" in the other half and watch a "not-so-good-one" destroy xyron/durka/etc in finals

dude, of course someone always has to face durka or xyron, but not in the first round.

Also someone that doesn't know basketball can apply for a team to learn right? _your_ point is invalid.
CT is arbitrarily facing some team doesn't matter if it's good or bad. What you do is pointing with your mighty finger to somebody to lose in the first round because you want to make the tourney more interesting. How's that right? How do anyone accept it and join your touney? I seriously don't get it.

If you want to make it official use seeds like in ladles, but use them from the very start not after the randomization. Pick the first 4 or 8 and seed them in different sides of the brackets and everyone happy.

Nothing cody, or anyone, does will make this tourney (or any tron tourney) "official".

I beg to differ. It's "officialty" is implied by the participants. The act of signing up and playing is a vote of confidence to the organizers. Anything organized by and played by Arma players is an official Arma event.

But you are also correct in the sense there is no governing body in Arma to determine something is official. A better word might be "traditional" since Ladle is the most successful long-term tournament. Any event modeling itself after it would seemingly have a greater sense of officiality.

Note that the problem has always been less about procedure and more about transparency. It's just a good practice in any competition for organizers to let the players know they are being treated fairly. For the 1v1SB Sumo Event we are (by participating) electing Cody as the sole judge of a player's skills. All his changes are likely to be made without notice or explanation. This of course is not the best way to run a tournament, but since the stakes are low there is plenty of room to extend a little faith.

8 sign-ups left. :P

Gonzap: Stop beating a dead horse, people are still entering my tournaments, acknowledging that I sometimes switch around to make the best out come for a final. Not going to sit here in a keyboard war over this.

I kind of hold the opposite view, I don't think it really matters to the player he is matched up against. If I were to play against Durka first round and lose, I'd be angry and want to get better. If I were to play against Durka in the semi-finals after going through some easy matchups and then lose, I'd still be angry, possibly even more so because I had gotten so far, and then still want to work to improve. I can see how saying you got to the semi-finals and saying you lost in the first round is a difference, but honestly, if you remained in a different matchup, you'd probably face a player just as good and lose to them instead.

Thank you. gonzap didn't understand what I was saying. Nice clarification.
By "official" I wasn't talking about being "Arma official", I was talking about being "world official" or like you said "governing body".
Nothing in tron is officially official. See what I did there? teehee.

I don't play in this tournament but personally I would want to know what changes were made after the randomization if I was participating.

He clearly meant official as in "legitimate", rather than what you're discussing with governing bodies and whatever, lol. Problem solved?
