Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
Ladle 32 was held in the second weekend in April because of Easter. I guess that was because most tronners celebrate Easter?

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
I say no exceptions, just have it every first sunday of a month. No need for future date votings or discussion.

We could have a vote on this, too, but I think it's good to be flexible for the sake of participation.Lacrymosa wrote:I say no exceptions, just have it every first sunday of a month. No need for future date votings or discussion.

I was thinking along the lines of it happening to fall on New Years Day/Eve and no teams signed up.

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
Personally, I think if the vast majority of the country that is celebrating a holiday can't make it, then the date should be moved. I know most USA players would be a bit pissed off if ladle were to land on July 4th and not be moved. July 3rd would be pushing it too, since some go visit family for the holiday.
I don't know much of this "royal wedding," but if a majority of the people in the UK can't make it, I say move it. No need to isolate the game to a specific group of people when it can be moved to the next weekend with little to no problems whatsoever. Doesn't seem to me, however, that it will be enough to move it.

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
first sunday as default
as usual
unless there is a good call for an exception...
in which case perhaps a critical mass is need in some kind of poll to alter it...?
consolation brackets sounds good
as long as it starts from the first round
since i don't think i have yet gone past the first round for... a lifetime ; s
and can we be strict about the timing?
the cumulative effect of people taking a few minutes to delay their matches
results in a major slide at the end of the evening for the finalists...
and also
the extended games where teams are playing cat and mouse
suggest that old chestnut regarding time-limits:
fixed round (this might kill some of the most interesting and dramatic game play)
or fixed match (15mins?)
or fixed game (45mins)
in which case
the whole issue of chatting as a technique to delay needs to be considered...
could we introduce called time-outs?
or time is only delayed at the start of a round by position 1 player...?
it's a biggie
but way better than the bloody date...

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
There are "3" "dates" in which the term "World Wide Holiday" were to come into effect, imho.
New Year
Chinese New Year
Christmas
Any other "holiday" is country or "religion" specific.
Changes to the ladle date will have to be made by country specific holidays and not just annual world wide holidays.
Be respectful and don't feel so selfish because someone living in a different country doesn't have to work on a day and you have to work your ass off because it is a holiday in that person's country.
If you really want to be technical, why don't we dismiss the ladle for all of these dates?

I put "religion" in quotes because I am not Christian but I still celebrate the holiday. You also have all them other December religious holidays.ElmosWorld wrote:Chinese New Year -> China(country)INW wrote:

Anyway, the people need not be disrespectful to other peoples' countries and holidays!

Re: Ladle 45 Voting Discussion
I don't think it should be moved any month really, if you can't make it you can't make it, there's always next month.
