Empty words. Everyone knows you can't be beat. As I've pointed out several times, there are only a handful of people who have what it takes to excel at CTF, and that handful of players are all on the same team.

It's was the same deal when Wild West CTF hosted tournaments. Wild West won, what was it, 14 tournaments in a row? (I wish I could find the stats but I don't have time to waste on lagtest to make my point). So then Luffy leaves Ww and joins Rogue Tronners, now they win every tournament. See the problem? There just isn't enough talent to go around for CTF to have a competitive tournament. It's a shame really.

I'm probably not going to participate in any more CTF tournaments. I'm not mad or anything, in fact I had a lot of fun! But I had fun because I was under no illusion of winning, since I knew it was impossible. And for that same reason, I'm also bored of it already.

Also, you know what's a mystery to me? All the "regular" CTF players, even the old ones who have been playing for a few years. They never get better. Why is that? When I go into WwCTF and see these old usernames on the screen I expect a little competition. But no, nothing like that at all. It's been years since I played CTF regularly and I still can't get any satisfaction. Boring.

ID beat both R and Ww in that tr2n tournament o.o

R is definitely a GREAT ctf team, but to say they can't be beaten is a bit much (No offense to R of course). They're kind of the team to beat right now I'd say

Were Force and killer on that team? What was the lineup? Also, ID beat Ww twice in CTF when I was in ID. That also proves my point.

The lineup I believe was:

ID Killer
ID Force (although not anymore :( )
ID Cscalera
ID Ousous

Subs were me and Arilou.

And I'm very glad they did. Without Ww's domination there'd be no _~R~_ clan.

Oh and for the record it's been our intention to play with 2 teams both tourneys, we've just been unlucky with attendance. Since we've been stuck with 1 team, our best players have been playing together. I'm not saying we've ever been planning on being merciful ( ) but it might be more interesting when we have 2 strong teams rather than 1 ridiculous. ^^

sine have you ever tried playing while voice chatting? I'm pretty sure you could lead a team to victory if you "strat-call" while defending. Which btw would be a first, I think. all other strat-callers i've known of have been the main attacker.

oh and btw, I think the holes are too big.

It's a well known fact that CTF teams who use VoIP will dominate the others because of the fast-paced, intricate nature of the game. It's tough to find a group of player who are comfortable using VoIP -AND- are good in CTF. Duh, you know this. If I ever join another CTF Tournament, VoIP will be required.

And yes, the hole size is ridiculous. But this is an artifact of the n00b history of CTF. I'm not exactly sure what a proper hole size would be, but it would definitely be smaller.

_radius 2 (we tested this last summer) makes it possible to (as) easily (as now) hole poor defs, while very hard to quickly hole a smartly setup def (including double defs, of course).

although just like poke noticed back then, this means that the explosion radius is smaller than the flag radius. This can affect matches, but I wonder if small holes aren't better anyway.

 LOL what does the flag radius have to do with it? It's not like you need to carry the flag back out through the hole.

Yeah, you just need to be more precise at holing (not hard) and affecting the matches is the desired goal, no?

The problem with this is (albeit, a comparatively small one) that if a player with the flag dies and drops the flag in the middle of somebody else's tail, an enemy cannot try to defend the flag. Think of how many times in ctf a flag must be defended outside of its normal position until the defense is under control again and the flag can be returned. If the hole radius is smaller than that of the flag, there will likely be bits of tail penetrating the dropped flag, meaning that it would be extremely difficult for somebody to defend the flag, and would instead have to return it, (potentially to an enemy).

Ask for diagrams if that doesn't make sense.

Got it, thanks. But, the wall delay is 2 seconds. That's super short. I can't see it being that big of a deal in the long run. Smaller holes probably have more benefits than not. You should set up a server with changes and get a game going to test.

Well, what i mean is that if the flag is dropped amidst the tail of a player who is still alive.

Just trying to explain a downside to it though. I would probably have to agree though that shrinking the hole size would have more pros than cons.

Well all i have to say is that the 4 semi finalist teams were more than capable of winning the whole thing. The better team won and that's that. Which makes these competitions so nice. I myself feel challenged enough to want to beat R or ID or whoever i end up facing. Sine does have a point about everyone joining forces to be the better team. Now a days, R, ID, U and other clans have many of the higher caliber CTF players on their team; however; there are many of us out there who (IF TEAMED UP PROPERLY) could very well beat any of them. Force and I played on the OPEN TEAM with two others who are excellent players (their first tournament) but lacked the experience of intense tournament play/strategy and teammwork. Imagine if we had two more experienced players show like RAM or OBSI.
The other problem which EVERYONE faces is attendance. Out of 12 players we only had 5 show on the open team. I'm sure some clans had the same problem.
If Force and I had our original team which included experienced players like RAM, NORT or Obsi show, i'm sure the outcome would have been different. BUT that is part of this game. All in all we had fun, I enjoyed playing, I was dissapointed we lost since i wanted to be in that final and i wanted to beat R or whoever we faced in the finals, so at the risk of being redundant, that is what fuels my appetite to want to win next time. I wouldn't say I play with the illusion that some clan or other team is going to win...I play to win. And hope that all other teams who play do so with the same attitude.
Sine I welcome you to join me in the next CTF trnmnt to see what the outcome would be.
