Oh, I was under the false impression that to build from source, you needed sudo rights to modify things outside the user directory. I always prefer to run servers with screen so there is a server console available.

That's true, but Armagetron can run from the compile directory, negating this requirement.

My thought as well. Personally, this is all based on a basic level of trust, IMHO, hence the reason that I am willing to just make things simple and allow sudo access. I also only use these servers for tron, nothing else.

Well what i've been wanting to do with Ct's is to at least make a web admin where people can update the settings and whatnot based on the tournament, start or restart the server if needed, I just have not had time to make something like that.

Well, since I am no longer part of WwHosting, and do not plan on reselling armagetron servers, ever, I have considered another possibility. Durka has a very nice webcontrol, that he is putting some finishing touches on. We might open source the thing, or at least share it with ct. That would be a better way to handle this.

I don't know nothin' 'bout no binaries. But if it's a matter of managing cfg files and restarting servers, yeah, I can do that.

I'm almost done with it...I swear!

What I have so far...

Users can:
  • create files
  • delete files
  • edit files (and instantly apply the saved settings)
  • rename files
  • restart the server
What I'm adding/currently working on:
  • start/stop server (is this really necessary though? restart should be enough)
  • auto-create new servers on the fly with the push of a button (almost done with this, but it doesn't seem that useful...only in the beginning with setting up new servers)

W00t!
And no, i don't think that stop/start is nearly as useful as the other needed features. Just type /admin exit, server restarts. That feature should really be a priority for later. When it works, I can setup a launchpad for it if you like. Maybe we can get others to contribute!

The reason that TSP_NC servers and TX clan servers have sucked is that my host 2host.com went from being good to crap. However, my internet marketing business is throwing off enough profit for me to buy better quality servers. So, it may take me 3 or 4 days of shopping around to replace them, but replace them I will.

The sucky servers have been replaced.
New to the TSP mix of servers is one located in Chicago that actually is a cloud server, and during tournaments will be running a 4.2ghz processor and 4gb ram. Twixted Xats will be moving to a server that is located in New Jersey.

Also, I have created accounts on all my servers that host Ladles and other tournament servers for the following people to be able to start, stop, create, and manage tournament servers: sine.wav, Z-man, dlh, epsy, kyle, and K-Yo. This way, there will always be somebody around that can fix things if something goes wrong, and I don't have to do all the work myself. Also, I am currently testing and implementing the script that superkikim posted to automatically restart my servers if one goes down.
