Can't see how it can be fairer.

It's a new tournament, and some teams that have entered for Ladle 18 didn't even participate in 17. Teams that won last time shouldn't get special treatment in seeding.

I say random seeding all around.

at some point, and I'm proposing that 16 teams is that point, we need to seed based on past performance to insure that the final has meaning.

Why do you guys suddenly come out two days before we choose? You had 2 months.

It's not a new tournament. It's the same one, just with some new teams. Seeds are done say the finals will be the best match. Why shouldn't they get special treatment?

Three months ago you could choose your spot.

that was all well and fine until the jostling got kinda ugly. If we all think that we're over that and can go back to captain chosen match ups, I'm all for it.

For Ladle 19.
The most active developers of Tronic have been talking of using the
same system used in 17 for a while now. With a 5 days left until the day of, I'm not in favor of opening the board back up to captain selected seeding. As for Ladle 19, I'm actually in favor of that. Now for the Ladle at hand; we could do random, but I get a sense that that is the minority opinion. So with the exception of some passionately and logical reasoning I'm in favor of "officializing" the 4 seeds we have.

I think everyone was over that straight away since that sign up system was used 3 times after L13

What was even wrong with the old way of signing up?
A few people moaned about the servers so they were randomised thus the teams got randomised. Since then we've had a ladle topic multiple pages long with disagreements about settings etc..

A future proof ladle structure should just be agreed after this ladle in regards to seeding & the like to prevent longing out topics for future ladles

The choces seem to be either a first come first serve sign up like it used to be; or random, with or without seeding.
The old sign up way got rid of the seeding problem, but could still allow for close first round matches..I would probably go for this tbh. Either that or completely random, might aswell since no one can agree on seeding.

What about everyone else who's reading but not contributing, you can't have a go at someone for actually posting thier opinion.

I say you just seed the top 2 teams and call it a day. Besides, a rematch in the finals is always exciting.

Yes. :D And people who disagree should share their opinion further in advance than 5 days.

for ladle 18
i think at least two
and agree with four
unless anyone complains too much

and i agree with future events reintroducing jostling on the brackets
if captains understand what they are doing
and they/we can deal with random messups by annoying players

just like any wiki
there needs to be gardening
and we can try to formalise the jostling procedure a little more
when the time comes
hold the line

What was kinda funny about the old method was that it basically enforced seeding. Teams were scared to go against the best or 2nd best team from the last ladle so they waited until they both chose their spots (typically on opposite sides.)
