Heh, I suggested to my wife we open up a betting pool, betting on the weather. (She liked the idea, but you know, gambling is illegal...)
We've had rain in the forecast for several days. We've even had clouds and crap, and could see it was raining somewhere in the distance, but the best we've gotten is a light sprinkle today. We're sitting on 90% chance of rain right now, and I don't think we're going to get any.
The only time the weather forecast in Texas is accurate is when they say it'll be hot and sunny, and windy in the spring and fall.
In seattle, the weather forecasts were amazingly accurate. "Light rain, 60-70 F". Isn't that about what the UK is supposed to get?

This is kinda fun. First Fay went over the florida keys, then went over the peninsula, now she's expected to recharge a bit and go back over florida one more time and then into the gulf.
It's a really good thing Fay didn't become a hurricane before zig-zagging over Florida.

Here comes Gustav, expected to become a full blown hurricane and either tear up Florida or the Gulf. I guess we'll see.

Gustav is already a hurricane, and current projected path puts him at the threshold to the gulf on Saturday evening. Where he'll go after that is anybody's guess, but he's basically following Katrina's route right now, except that Katrina formed farther east, iirc.
In the meantime, he's going to roll over Cuba.

Heh, yeah.
Side note, if anybody's noticed my sudden disappearance and possibly also my website going down, that's because my webserver is currently in the trunk of my car. My wife and I are separating, and this time it is probably going to be permanent. So I am in a bit of limbo with regards to living space right now.
In anticipation of this sort of eventuality, I had already turned over the wiki and whatever other arma properties I was hosting, so there should be no disruption to any services here as a result. This was over a year ago, but the last year has basically been make it or break it, and it appears my wife and I have mutually chosen to break it instead of making it.
As an added bonus, I had pushed my most recent changes to the resource system to launchpad when everything blew over, so I'm not even sitting on code I can't push right now.
If someone could pass this on to the irc folks, that would be greatly appreciated. I'll be back in black as soon as possible, but obviously I've got other priorities for the moment.

Thank you guys for the good wishes. I'm also pretty strapped for cash, so if anybody wants to help in a direct material way, and has a few bucks to spare, there's always paypal (at) davefancella.com
Back ontopic, I'm out for a couple of days and Gustav strengthened to a Category 3! Holy guacamole! Current projects are putting it pretty near Austin, this could be a very interesting weekend/week.

Well, Gustav is a Cat 1 hurricane right now, and his outer edges are hanging over Dallas. I guess he'll still be a tropical storm when the outer wind bands start hitting Austin. Looks like we'll take a grazing hit from this one. Will be nice, we need the rain.
Hanna's a hurricane now, and she's heading to Georgia!
