I think most people do not know about spectator mode and it's effects. Also, there's no reason for it to lag the server because nothing should be sent to the server. So how does the server uploading to one more person at the exact same rate lag it so much? It does not make sense.

makes a big difference if the spectator client is loosing 50%+ of the packets and the server keeps trying to resend

It's UDP, the server doesn't resend.

iceman, how about:

next time the person with crazy ping is in the room, wait until they die and then see how things behave. being dead is like being in specator mode, no? so if they're really being a problem things may clear up until the end of the round i'd think. and if they did clear up, that means the person wouldn't be a problem as a spectator. (i think)

and why not autokick players with rediculous pings? i never met anyone with ping over 600, and it droped down to 250-300, but why should we all suffer?

Yeah like me, usually I get the 600ping and it does down by the next round to 250-300 although I do leave if it doesnt go down within 2 games. So give me a little credit. Cable Jerks 8)

I'm new so this might've been mentioned before (and might be tricky) but when your dead, could the HUD reflect the values of the bike you are watching, rather than your dead bike?

"scrap ping charity !"

ping charity looks like a fair way to distribute the server load - the kick option on some servers will sort out the annoying 1k+ pings who don't respond to kind suggestions. Otherwise the geographics will play too much of a effect. Can't you drop the amount of ping charity you are prepared to take on, though?

I'm new, so sorry i'f I'm treading on toes.

This feature is already coded and will be available in next update ;). All the gauges will be updated with the new watched player.

Regarding ping charity, every round it calcules the ping charity which u will be playing next round. I really don't know if there is a config where u can set an upper limit of ping charity (in the config files I mean).^

If it not exists we could always add a config value named PING_CHARITY_LIMIT or something like that ;P

Great klax :)

Another suggestion: random round with different speed, acceleration, grid size,... settings. It would be necessary to set up another configuration file, something like random.cfg with different settings each section:

[NORMAL]
SPEED_FACTOR XXX
GRID_SIZE XXX
ACCELERATION...
PROBABILITY 97

[SETTINGS 1]
SPEDD_FACTOR XXX
GRID_SIZE XXX
...
PROBABILITY 2

The Probability field would define when these settings are applied (something like a percentage, or 2 times per match, or 10 times each day...).

**Edit** and another section field: CENTER_MESSAGE. For example, if crazy speed settings are activated in one round, players would view something like "Crazy Round with Mad Speed!"**
