Not another Tron Tournament!

Post by ed »

It's a 2v2 tournament. Read all about it and sign up here.
Heres some jargon I cut and pasted.
I'd appreciate your views.

Crazy Tronners Wild Dogfight Tournament.
A 2v2 tournament to be played at Crazy Tronners Wild Dogfight Tron Server.
A straight knockout competition.
Each Round, best of 5, first team to win 3 matches wins the round and goes through to the next. The losing team is out.
Brackets to be chosen randomly when all signups have been completed.
The last date for signup is 30th September.
Any empty spots on the first round(as it's unlikely the number of teams will be exactly 16,32,64, etc) will be filled with bye's.
I am happy for a trusted 3rd party to randomly choose brackets, so there are no accusations of cheating on CT's part.
Tournament brackets will be displayed for all to see on 1st October.

Crazy Tronners Wild Dogfight, what is it?

It's a 2 verses 2 Fortress/Sumo/Race server with 10 rounds, 10 maps.
It really is a lot of fun.
Loosely based on CT Wild but 2v2 instead of 7v7. Emphasis is definately on teamwork.
Info can be found here: http://forums.crazy-tronners.com/servers.php?map=dog
I suggest you practice with your partner before entering.

Where do I sign up?

At least one member (The Team Captain) must register on the CT Dogfight forums and put down the name of yourself and your partner you'll be playing with.
There will be no moving about and swapping partners after 1st October when rounds begin.
Choose your partner wisely. If he/she drops out, you are effectively out.

When does it start?

First Round starts 1st October 2006. 2nd Round start 8th October, etc.
Each consecutive round a week later till it reaches the final.

Who can apply?
Anyone, find yourself a partner and enter.
This is NOT a clan tournament. Your partner can be a non-clanner, an old-skool clanner. A Speeder and a Lord of Destruction could partner up. Or 2 non clanners.

When will matches take place?
You are responsible for setting up your own matches. You will have a week to set up and play your match.
Preferably set up on the CT Dogfight forums. So if there are disputes they can hopefully be resolved quickly.
You must be able to play between 19:00GMT - 23:00GMT.
Your matches don't necessarily need to take place between these times, but you MUST be able to play between these times.
The reason? to ensure battles can continue. Let's say one team can only play between 10:00GMT - 12:00GMT, the other between 16:00GMT - 18:00. How can the tournament continue? It would be difficult to keep matches flowing fairly.
If you cannot play within these times, please DO NOT sign up.

What the other team doesn't turn up?
This is why it's best challenges are preferably set up on CT Dogfight forum. That way any disputes can be resolved easily.
You might say "I emailed him". This is no good to me. If it's on the forum it's open for all to see.

What if the other team is unable to play at a certain time?

This is why the 19:00GMT - 23:00GMT is in place. If you give your opponent options to play within these times and they fail to respond with a time, then , if it comes to it, they shall be disqualified. We need to keep the tournament moving.

If you have any questions about the rules please post them here.

Well matches are organised by the players themselves, and they have a week to do it. So I don't think you need to worry.
Hope to see you signed up.

Well, the rounds are up, here:
http://forums.crazy-tronners.com/viewtopic.php?t=784
We've decided to keep signups open till the 8th Oct, just to fill the 3 gaps left if we can. Once they're gone, they're gone.
So, if you fancy your chances, you'd better hurry.
edit: spots now filled, signups closed.
