Racist??

Post by Zapple »

Is it racist to call a black person a "Negro" ? Because when I was playing I was fooling arond and said "Come on Negro" and he's all like "You racist, your racist you racist!" (lol) and I'm like "You are black right?" Then he was like "Yah" "Well then thats your name, look it up, duh" Then I said "Well you know its not racist to call a black person a Negro, it is if you call him a nig*** or a nig**" Then (Sorry Lack, lol) Lack was like, "Zapple's right on this one {MAC}" (His name) So I was just wondering whats your input on this?

no, negro is not a derogatory term. it just means black in spanish, it was brought to the americas by the spanish slave trade in the carribian. I'm tired of people who think they should be offended on behalf of someone else

In that case "niger" is not racist either, it just means black in latin. Neither is politically correct, and if there are sensitive guys (or girls) on the grid and you don't want to upset then dont use them.

Personally i think all this politically correctness has gone to far.

edit: lol tank, you and that word filter

i was there, zapple, under my real name or some other silly name. the person in question was definitely an idiot to begin with. other than that, i would reluctantly agree with the guy named "hubbub": it's not really cool to call a black person a "negro" anymore. it basically went out with the sixties. these days it's akin to calling a black person a "n i g g e r" which is pretty wrong on all accounts. personally i think it's ridiculous to have to call black people in the states "african americans" because they haven't had anything to do with africa for ages and ages and generally-speaking don't even have a clue about african culture. can you say "posers"?

myself, i have some african blood and would consider it far more absurd to call myself "african american" than "peruvian american". at least i was actually BORN in peru, for goshdarn's sake.

anyway, it still is a touchy subject and i would advise you to be careful because plenty of white people will still get pissed off over this. altho "{MAC}Alcorna" or whatever was a total idiot, no question about it...

in fact caucasian is derived from the causcaus region, if you know where it is you can see it is very close to the "Cradle of Civilization." The emigration of the race that would come to be known as Caucasian lived in and traveled through this area in order to reach continental europe. essentially this area represents the first step into a new race, and so we get caucasian, which applies not only to "white" people but "latino" people as well

yeah, and something tells me it's as arbitrary as most names in classification, geography, and history:

usually the scientist who gets credited with the find / proof gets to attribute whatever serious or silly name s/he was feeling like that day. so if it wasn't "caucasians" it could well have been "pinkmarshmallowfluffians"...

granted that niger is not n.i.g.g.e.r but I reckon that one was derived from the other.

I am sorry to make a joke about something that isn't really a laughing matter. The thing is, this topic is so played out that we don't even know if n.i.g.g.e.r. is a bad thing anymore. I am so numb from hearing f.u.c.k. s.h.i.t. d.a.m.n. b.i.t.c.h. a.s.s. d.i.c.k. that I don't hear n.i.g.g.e.r. and think black slave from africa...I hear n.i.g.g.e.r. and think, ignorance. 8)

I know I know Tank.... But with all respect, It was neccesary to prove my point.
