international tron tournament

Post by AdyLucifer »

Id like to know if i can modify the main wiki page to add a link to
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/Inter_tron

Its a new tournament and on it the players ar eorganised in countries, so a spanish player will play for spain etc etc.It will be like on football aprox.

First we need to know how many players of each country there are and after that we will see if its a good idea to do this or no but we need that link on wiki to help players find the page.
Well, thats all i wanted to know , thanks.

i suggest adding a general tournament page(and a link) on the front page, linking to all the tournaments posted in the wiki (past and present).

Well, wouldn't that make it an international competition of international tournaments?

"Let the best tournament win!" seems appropriate.

Wales is uk no? then play for Uk there are other players from there.
I think it should be fortress ,its the best style in armagetron.
Oh and all the info and the clanwars etc etc will be posted after the teams
will be complete.
Good ide to make a general page for tournaments but for now i will post a link on main page like all others have done.

I think it should be both. One fortress, and one rubber. Kinda like in the Olympics with short track and long track speed skating. There are enough skilled players from both to represent their countries, but how would you go about organizing the teams?
Also, psyko is right there are a lot of tournements going on right now. But one more couldnt hurt

The good thing about haveing it fortress is that there is a standard way of playing it, with rubber you have all the different factors, like rubber for one, speed, cycle_delay, and all the other settings that there are.I think it should be both but first you have to find settings everyone considers "rubber" be that high speed high rubber rim grinding, or medium rubber/speed rimm excel, or low speed low rubber dogfighting sortof style, etc.

Anyways if it is just fortress this is unnecessary, but if it is both you'd have to figure out which type of "rubber" you'd want. Any rubber settings are fine by me as long as there is fortress.

Since when was there a game mode called "rubber?" What the fork is that supposed to mean?

As for the "standard" of fortress, you only perceive that because fortress is a very new game mode and there haven't been many servers put up that diverge much from the physics settings of z-man's (as far as I know). All the physics settings that are configurable on any other type of server are just as configurable on a fortress server. All that defines "fortress" is the special zones and the team play, not the physics set.

@Phytotron: Well "rubber" means, in this instance I think, High speed High rubber server, thats what I take it to mean anyway. Although I'd rather have it more like medium or low rubber/speed.

As for standard fortress, i meant exactally what I said, the fortress mode that is standard, which is two zones, 2 teams, 5 rubber, everything that is included in the Fortress_complete.cfg that comes with the client, for windows it does anyway. Thats Standard to me anyway so that is what i call it, the only other Fortress server that is up that is used regularly is Crazy tronners wild fortress which is not standard, to me, and the physics are alot different there.

@Psyko: Only if your from Canada :D

ok
then subdivide it into two catagories
high rubber
low rubber (i would say 10 or less maybe, just throwing that number out there)

I disagree. Yes it is new, but there has been much experimentation with it. CT has their server, which is always full, sumo has come about, I think for a bit Sp had a fortress server up with higher rubber, but that didnt work out. If anything there has been more experimentation with fortress then "traditional" servers mostly due to the fact that many of the people that play fortress have the knowledge to develope "spin off" servers with some kind of newer more interesting changes

I signed up for Germany, if there are objections on principal grounds by anyone, please tell so, and I'll resign. Those who have seen me play know there is no need to worry, I don't kick ass by default :)

On the settings, I'd like to stick to fortress_complete.cfg. That's what most people are trained in. To me, higher rubber just feels unnatural.

Where will the matches be held? Will there be two matches between any two contestant, each in a server hosted in one of the competing countries? That sounds best for transatlantic matches. Or should there be just one match in a server located in another country?
