AA through SSH tunnel

Post by belenus »

Hey,

since I cannot play AA from school, I guess some ports are blocked there or use for something else I thought about creating an SSH tunnel.

First, it works with a Win2003 Terminal Server so I made a similar configuration for AA (just changed the ports and destination IP since AA is on a different server) but when I try to connect directly to localhost:server_ip it isn't working.

Anything I am missing here? Is more than 1 port needed?

Anyone got experience with SSH tunnels? =)

SSH only forwards TCP connections, and we're using UDP. You'll need an additional progam that tunnels UDP packets over a TCP connection. Surely such a thing exists, but I know of none.

My solution: When you're at school, do what you're supposed to be doing academically instead of playing video games. :)

If it wouldn't be so boring and the free time between classes to long I would actually consider it...

hmm

it irks me this attittude

belenus think about it.

you are obviously of an age where your life is about learning. You are probably intellegent enough to realise that the more you learn now, the better you will succeed in later life.

So school is boring. " we've been spoon-fed baby food at school when we hungered for steak" - we've all been there.

but think on. think that maybe in life not everything is put on a plate in front of you. think that maybe the teachers at your school are offering you a free portion of knowledge, but that is not all there is. they may know there is more, but they are obliged to stick within limits./ they may not even know there is more.

The point is, you suggest that you think there is more, yet you make no effort to take it. That is pretty lame.

Throughout my school life, I was told that I would regret not making more effort in class. I don't. In fact I take some pride that I achieved some excellent results with minimal effort.

But my regret is that although I knew that there was more to education than the teachers pushed down my throat, and I knew EXACTLY how/where to educate myself, I just cruised through.

Because the one thing I didn't understand is that education goes beyond the acedemic. I have now learnt to cruise through life, and that is not a good thing. Learn to push yourself, and ignore the limits/targets that your educators impose, and see how high you can truly fly.

Or just play games and enjoy.

Gnorty, I am 28 years old and I got more experience in some classes than what the teacher wants us to know right now, and probably even in the end,... others of us don't so I sit there, bored because I already know that stuff while others try to follow... and I need something to do so the others can listen and learn and not get disturbed by me.

Besides, I also want it for the sometimes "long" free spaces between classes...

bel -

Assumptions made by me on limited info.

nonetheless, my comments weren't really aimed directly at you, more a general observation and general musing.

I have been in classes recently where my knowledge far outstrips that of my tutor, and this was what really got me thinking about such things. Maybe if I had pushed harder, and not dropped out when things got too boring, then I wouldn't have been sat in classes in my mid 30's being "taught" complete nonsense by a suit with fundamental knowledge attempting to teach more advanced subjects.

I guess you know all about that ;)
