Hi all,
I was playing MBC for like 4hrs yesterday and I noticed some realy big differences with how many times the server "awards" suicide kills.
Please correct me if this is a server setting and has nothing to do with the update to 2.8.0 server.
If the code for judging who dumped you has been changed in 2.8.0 then I'm happy. Because it was my opinion that in recent previous server versions your own stuipidity when running into your wall, even when you were in the middle of nowhere and had no oponent walls nearby, was too often credited to other players.
However, running client 2.8.0 on MBCs 2.8.0 server I noticed the total opossite to this. Many a time the presence of another player who clearly influenced the death of a particular player was credited to a suicide. I experience both sides of this problem on numerous occasions. If I recall correctly, in one instance I was actually sandwiched between two opponent walls and xploded while grinding back into my own wall, and was still "awarded" a suicide. In this case it should have been a kill to one of the two oppents whose walls surrounded me.
Has anyone noticed a similiar problem? Maybe im just going wackey. If I wasnt at work I would test it again to make sure.
If i had to have it one way or the other I would definately rather my suicide be credited to someone else, rather than my frag be taken from me.

Too many suicides awarded?
Too many suicides awarded?
If we knew what we were doing it wouldn't be research
Yes, there were changes in 0.28.0 to the way suicide detection works, but at default settings, the new code SHOULD behave exacly like in 0.2.7.1. If you die at time T and all the enemy walls you passed have been built earlier than T - ENEMY_SUICIDE_TIMEOUT, then your death counts as a suicide. The default value of ENEMY_SUICIDE_TIMEOUT is ridiculously large, so with the defaults, your death should only be a suicide if you haven't seen any enemy wall before you die. From your description, it seems like ENEMY_SUICIDE_TIMEOUT is too low on MBC.
