Moviepack Organizer

Post by Self_Destructo »

It's been a goal of mine to one of these days see us have all the moviepacks well organized. So, I've finally got a little time to draw up the moviepack submitter. My dream is to have it so you can submit them, browse them, and download them.

Here's my start on the html side of the moviepack browser/submitter (very quickly thrown together, specifically on the submitting side. Tell me what you think, and if you want to help code it, then I'll let you.

I admit I didn't follow the link. :)

There's a page on the wiki for moviepacks. Granted it's suboptimal for this sort of thing, but it has the advantage over the forum listing that it's self-organizing. Besides that, whenever you're finished with this, I'd be happy to host it if no one else volunteers. Seems like something that should go with the resource repository, though. You know, when it's done.

Anyway, when you get it to a point, I'd be happy to throw a little soap wrapper on it. If you give it an rss feed (I can send you some code to show you how to do that if you need it), then the armabot in #armagetron can show it. :)

/me reminds self to check mediawiki to see if it can show other feeds. We need to publish rss feeds from all the websites at some point and have each one show each others'.

Ok, send me the rss code. I'm making the html part of the browser end of it right now(it's quite complex). So far I can only host it for testing, because I don't have the room for a bunch of files. It will take me a while to get it functional, because I'm a slow coder (I don't do much).

The biggest reason I'm doing this is for ease of use. Hopefully one day there will be a program that can browse the list and dowload and install a moviepack the user picks. :) Also, there's little chance of losing moviepacks this way. Some of the links to download moviepacks don't exist anymore.

I've been meaning to do something for moviepacks for the mainsite. It has a special css/codeblock for stuff like this that Lack made for us but I just haven't had the time to work over...

Well, I suppose I could do it. Especially while it is easy to put css into it.
