ArmaSpy for Linux

Post by Wejp »

Based on the idea of ArmaBell I wrote a little program for Linux operating systems (should run on other *NIX systems with X as well).

The program doesn't have many features yet. All it does is to place an icon in the systray and when you right click on that icon you'll get a menu with all the servers where at least one player is online. Each entry has a submenu which shows the players for that server.

Download: http://www.armagetron.be/armaspy-0.0.1.tar.gz

To compile the program you'll need GTK2, libcurl and GCC.
It is still a very early version which I wrote in the last few hours, so don't expect too much from it. ;)

Just an idea in the pot like that, but maybe, just maybe, you and IF should merge the your projects, factorize the common part, and have a common tool that has both linux and windows support.

What do you think?

But front and foremost, it is a great idea! Keep the good work.

I'm compiling the source as I write this.

ArmaSpy 0.0.2

Post by Wejp »

I've just released ArmaSpy 0.0.2. With this version the server list is sorted in descending order by the number of players on each server. Every server is only shown once (even if it is twice in the frommaster.nfo file. You can download the new version here: http://wejp.mooo.com/wejp/armaspy/
There you'll also find a screenshot of armaspy.

As for the suggestion to merge both projects. I'm not sure about it, as I don't think both projects have much in common regarding the source, though I obviously can't really judge it as ArmaBell does not come with its source.

I'm sorry that I'm so late with my answer. I'm afraid I can't do anything about that transparency problem right now. The icon itself has a transparent background, but either gtk2 or the windowmanager doesn't display it that way. I'll try to find a solution for that, but I've seen other applications which have the same problem so it seems to be a common problem.
