OK so ive been trying to setup my own server. I try to follow the wiki instructions even though theyre really crappy since they don't really explain how to do anything. I put in the Talk to master server to 1 and everyting and i can't access it through the normal client. I can do anything over lan but i have no idea how to put it on so i can play it with other people. Can someone please help.

if you are behind a router, you need to setup port forwarding (sometimes called NAT or similiar in router config) for the port of your server (UDP).
If you have done so and tell us your IP, we may be able to help more.

How about instead of "the instructions are really crappy", you tell us exactly what's lacking? Or STFU, one of the two. ( /me consoles himself with the hordes of people who have thanked him for writing the wiki instructions and brought up servers using them.

)

No sure what you mean by the first part about setup forwarding. COuld you please explain? My ip adress is 67.68.195.129. And Lucifer stop being an ass. Youre exactly the type of person that ruins games on cvs fortress and other servers. What i lack like i said before is good instructions. If i don't have goood instructions of how to setup a server how am i supposed to know what's missing.

Some level of competency is required.

What is your server name? It may be working, as you said you could connect to it over the LAN.

Hmm, you could tell us what you've done. You could ask specific questions that help us to pinpoint the problem. You could post your config files, output of the program, etc. You could also tell us where you've looked (if the wiki is the only place you've looked, then you just haven't looked hard enough).

Here's an example of a good way to ask the question:

Lucifer, setting up a server for the first time wrote: I've installed the dedicated server from the rpm provided, version 0.2.8rc1 on my Mandrake 10.1 machine. It starts fine, no segfaults or anything. I found the config file and worked from the instructions on the wiki, but it's not working. Maybe I missed something in the instructions, maybe the instructions just aren't good enough. I can see the server when I hit "LAN Game", but not when I hit "Internet Game".

I've googled, altavistad, etc, and searched these forums. I found lots of discussions, but nothing seemed to indicate the problem, other than to set TALK_TO_MASTER to 1.

Here's the output of the game when I run it in a terminal:

Oh lmao did he actually write them. Ok fine. Bottomline is that i didn't know that and it doesn't give lucifer the right to tell me to stfu. They aren't very good simply because there are no clear directions to follow in order to make your own server and the instructions he does give don't work. Simple

Plus if someone called my car crappy i wouldn't tell them to stfu. I would just let them say thier opinion and ask them calmy why. Hint: Lucifer stop being a crybaby plz. Like jeez ok i called something you made crappy. Boohoo hhooooo i'm sorry. Like get over it man. I'm sorry but they really aren't that good if they had let me make my own server i would say great but theyve just caused me tons of frsutration.

No i am not Null Hyper whoever it was. Maybe my questions wasn't the best but after youve been trying to make a server for a few hours with no success after you couldn't get on the wiki for a month it gets pretty annoying. But your response wasn't rwal nice either. However i'm willing to forget what you said.

Anyway i can see my server on the master list but it's "unreachable' and i dunno why.
