Looking for a game.

Post by ConVicT »

I've been playing through a lot of flash games recently and I've been enjoying the puzzle ones, which reminded me of this puzzle.
Anyone know of a game that is just this type of puzzle and gets increasingly harder?
Preferably DS or flash game versions.

Edit: Found this one, still want more though :)

When's the last time you played Resident Evil, and which one was that?
Resident Evil hasn't even been slightly puzzle-y for over 10 years, it sucks now.

Anyways, I've just finished Dying Light, I'll be sick of looking at zombies for a while.
Not even looking forward to The Walking Dead anymore, meh...

While its not an RPG perse, there is a decent stargate mod for sins of a solar empire.

Clearly my allusion to RE inventory management flew right by you.

As you may be aware, there was a planned MMORPG called Stargate Worlds, but it was ultimately abandoned before release. :( And then there's the Stargate: SG-1 Roleplaying Game, of which you're surely already aware since it was the first google hit, heh.

'Twas that fact you said "series" that threw me off, I didn't really care for the game after 4
I'd forgotten all about that part, but I remember it being more annoying than a fun puzzle though.
Those were the days, to me :D
...But, I was also a stoned teenager at the time, which is probably why that went right over my head.
That sure brought back some memories though, cheers!

Yeah, I was aware of both of those. :) There also was something more of a FPS that ran for a few years and got taken down when the company (the same one) went bankrupt.

Guess we'll have to roll our own....

Yeah, my mistake. For some reason I thought I remembered the earlier RE games using the same method of inventory sorting as in RE4. Conflation and confabulation, I guess.

I think that's the MMOTPS, Stargate: Resistance, you're thinking of. Both it and Stargate Worlds were originally developed by Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, which did eventually go into receivership, but not before Resistance was handed over to another company and was up for looks like a year or so before getting shut down. I just watched some gameplay video and it looks fairly tedious. Just the typical “Team Death Match,” “Capture the Tech (flag),” “Domination,” “Arena” and "King Of The Hill," as Wikipedia points out.

Now, there is a website up saying "A small group of fans, working in secret from a hardened bunker deep under Detroit, have resurrected the game for all to enjoy." I have no idea how legit or active it is, and you can't download unless you sign up with the site. So, I dunno, whatever. My PC probably couldn't run it, or just barely, anyway.

There was an FPS in development called Stargate SG-1: The Alliance that was never released, apparently due to some legal tie-ups, which is a shame because from what I've glanced at, it looks pretty good. All real voice acting too, including Don S. Davis. "Peter DeLuise was especially disappointed, having devoted much time to the game's development (albeit primarily the audio portion)."

Here's a video of the first tutorial level. And some other alpha gameplay video.

I don't want a stargate FPS. Don't really like FPSes. I want a RPG where you can play missions like in the show. So there'd still be some action, but also exploration, negotiation, etc.

We're looking at Panda 3d as the game engine, it's python and it's batteries included, so we shouldn't need anything else, but my older son is having trouble installing it. :/

Oh, I wasn't suggesting it for you, just talking about it. :) I would have wanted to play it, myself, though. Personally, I don't really care for RPG's. I like adventure, exploration, puzzles, narrative, all that, but dislike the basic RPG mechanics; they feel like homework or something, as opposed to, you know, enjoyment.

Come to think of it, at this point a video game may be the only way we get a proper resolution (or continuation) to Atlantis.

Um, no, the company that was working on that stuff went tits-up, and MGM currently has no plans for another game.

Perhaps read what I said?
