So I'm playing Armagetron, and in the middle of by battles, I get little 'catch up' lag. Something like the game trying to catch up with the server, and I end up in a position I wasn't in. It's not frequent, and it happens quickly, so it's not prolonged. It's barely 2 seconds and then it ceases, until it happens again for another 2 or so seconds.
I've always got a ping about 50-70, so it's not my connection, that much I know.
Any help is appreciated.
Random Connection Lag Spikes
Re: Random Connection Lag Spikes
Unfortunately, no, you don't. The ping value the game gives you is a timed average, spikes influence it, but not as much as you think. So:Hexi wrote:I've always got a ping about 50-70, so it's not my connection, that much I know.
1. Are you playing over Wifi? If so, don't.
2. When you have the lag spikes, does your screen freeze for a bit?

Re: Random Connection Lag Spikes
I can say that in the last 2 weeks I've seen a lot of the servers that I get routed through have had issues. I've had them so bad that the client crashes. But the problem at certain servers only lasts for a few minutes. Which in game could translate to these slides.

My screen doesn't freeze, no. My cycle does what I askit to, but then the server tells it where it's really at, and I usually end up dead.Z-Man wrote:Unfortunately, no, you don't. Re: Random Connection Lag Spikes
Well that usually happens when you end up having really slow internet. The other possibility is that the server itself is running on a bad network and that would easily explain the reason.Hexi wrote:My screen doesn't freeze, no. In any event, I don't exactly believe the requirements stated in "Server Administration" in the arma wiki to be accurate in setting up servers...
Re: Random Connection Lag Spikes
That is a problem in the connection somewhere between your client and the server, then. Doesn't have to be your connection, though. Do you play on different servers (really different, not just different servers hosted by the same people) and have the problems on all of them?Hexi wrote:My screen doesn't freeze, no.
