ctf Brawl discussing of alternative days of week each month

I want to discuss implementing of a new practice for this tourney. It's not that huge event (does not include a lot of teams), so it's open for such changes if everyone of team leaders agree.

I suggest to keep it Saturday>Sunday>Saturday>Sunday> etc. Each month - different day of weekend.

What do you all think about it?

I think if you change the day each month people who doesnt read forums usually will confuse. On Saturdays you could get more aussies but im ok with Sundays

they have to read, don't they, at least team leaders? But still I want to get more people from Saturdays and Sundays too. When we changed it to Sunday we eliminated a lot of players from brawl who used to play on Saturdays.

Yeah I agree with orion. It should stay on one day not to cause confusion.

im going to try and get <| into this, we will suck but i love ctf so i dont give a crap i would like to keep this to sundays if its ok with all of you, i know that my opinion is of little sway in the ctf community but still another opinion to add ly

I would suggest making every third brawl on a Saturday and the first two on Sunday. By the end of the year, whichever tournament day has more sign ups, we will switch it to that day being held twice then the other one will be once every three weeks.

It's not a bad idea, it just runs the risk that people will forget which day it lands on. Maybe not a huge risk, but a notable one.

In this case we have to make day of week "notable", notable for everyone, and keep people informed in-game. Not a difficult task to spread the world

Yeah. Put it in the Brawl Servers cfg. Since all the brawl servers are required to load the config each Brawl, make the server give players a console message that says:

Set the following dates on your calendars and check the forums for any updates or news about Brawl!
BRAWL 27 is happening now, SUNDAY, April 14th, 2013
BRAWL 28 will be on SUNDAY, May 12th, 2013
BRAWL 29 will be on SATURDAY, June 8th, 2013

Then update it each time a new Brawl comes and the servers need to be updated.

I also like tobe's idea of two times on one day, third time on another day.

And I think that if you put it on the wiki, clearly said on what day it is, it shouldn't make too much confusion. You could also put each time you make a new topic here for the next brawl, put the day in big red (maybe not font 128, but just bold and red)...

Some people don't read the forums, nor the wiki. If one TL doesn't read it correctly or realize it, that entire team might get snake-bitten and be SoL.

Rather we just choose a day. Only reason I'd like it to be on Sunday is I don't work much on Sundays, but for the whole purpose of Australians, I'd like it to be on Saturdays. So far, it seems Sundays have added more activity, but I'm not sure if that's because it's Sunday or more people are starting to play CTF in general.

I agree with 16 here. Although we need to eventually establish one solid date, we first need to make sure it's the right one. Tobes idea makes sure of this. As for ppl getting confused, we can take advantage of the fact that ctf is a small community and make sure we spread the day of the month by word of mouth as well as wiki and forums. We could even go so far as to post on every clans forums clarifying the new rules of when brawl is gong to take place and urge them to double check the date every month to be certain. Given the size of the ctf community and their passion for ctf, I'm confident this will succeed.
