0.4
I'm sorry to ask such a daft fuckoff question, but I can't seem to find the latest 0.4 win snapshot. Do I have to compile it or...?
Re: 0.4
The winlibs need to be updated. Until then the autobuilder fails for windows binaries.
If you want the latest snapshot, you need to compile it yourself (with updated winlibs).

Tell the internet man to come fix our internet earlier.

At this time, if we could find the right person to bribe, i would bet that many people would gladly donate to bribe them to get it done now.

Including myself. But they explicitly wrote a change of date was not possible and it's a former state owned company, which means it would be really expensive. I assume the long wait time is the previous owner's fault for not properly getting his connection terminated. Oh well, just barely one more week.
Oh yeah, I got a new cell phone for myself, which apparently works much better at mobile internet than the crappy one I gave my wife... but I managed to burn through almost all of my high speed volume for the month before the first day was half over. Oops. Oh well, It would have required some fiddling to get the home server (responsible for svn/bzr sync, which is the bit the merge would depend on) and main PC (for Windows test build) to use it anyway as neither has WLAN. Connect laptop to ethernet, enable NAT there, hope it works.

Ahh, I have heard similar stories from a few other Germans. As to the data plans on cell phones. That is why I am waiting to get a smartphone until I can afford an unlimited data plan. I know otherwise I would just burn through the data too quickly. Quite frankly that is a major motivator to keep growing the client base of my business. I really want some more toys.

Gene, I would tread carefully with unlimited plans. Even in America there's bound to be a multitude of fair usage terms.
Oh. Me stating the obvious, sorry. Does America have 4G?

Yes, we do have 4G in America.

Re: 0.4
I am aware of the limitations of "Unlimited" plans. I don't have plans to abuse the plan that much, but I know that the typical 4GB transfer plan would not really fit what I would do. Also, America has 4G. However, if you read the specs, what is called 4G in America isn't really 4G but more like what 3G was supposed to be. 4G LTE in America is like what 4G is anywhere else.delinquent wrote:Gene, I would tread carefully with unlimited plans. Re: 0.4
Ah. So the 3.5g 21mb connection equates to a compressed 4g connection in America? Confusing. Britain is only just getting 4G service rolled out, but tbh most UK service providers have brilliant compression servers, so latency and bandwidth are close to the quality of early 8mb adsl connections. Now, of course, fibre is getting popular. I just upgraded my package to a 180mb fibre connection... win!
Re: 0.4
I'd be perfectly happy with a data plan that gives me unlimited slow access at no or marginal cost. All I'm going to do with it once we have back proper network (today!) is check email and other small things. I mean, they offer X MB/Month high speed for Y Euros and the rest of the month at low speed at no cost, so that means low speed can't cost them anything, right? Right? Aww. Guess I'll settle for smallest Y, then.
Also, turns out the crappy mobile link at home wasn't my wife's phone fault at all. It just so happens that the signal has trouble penetrating the 70's concrete block we now live in. And I learned that our mobile provider is known for being wonky as well. Aaaand.. I had configured the phone to stick to G2 at some point in the past. That might have contributed.

Re: 0.4
Z-Man - over here in the UK we have certain providers who give out signal amplifiers, some that use a broadband connection, some that don't. Maybe it's worth looking at?
Re: 0.4
Yeah, but we're fine now. Voice connections work OK anyway and now we don't need mobile data connections any more. And such a device would never get past the e-Smog-police that is my wife.
