Movie pack problems
Movie pack problems
I just wanted to have a diff grid. Had a nice one made in photoshop, and it was nice and bright. Got it in tron, but Tron dulls the color. Is there a way around that? I want the white core to stay bright white and not become a dull gray.
Re: Movie pack problems
oh and I know about screen brightness and all that sh!t. I'm not a noob. I tested it and put the grid on the sky. It was as bright as I wanted it. But the floor is just dull. Is there a tron command or something to make the floor brighter?

Maybe FLOOR_RED/FLOOR_GREEN/FLOOR_BLUE or MOVIEPACK_FLOOR_RED/MOVIEPACK_FLOOR_GREEN/MOVIEPACK_FLOOR_BLUE need adjusting. (The former set for if the moviepack is disabled, the latter if it is enabled.) These would be in settings.cfg or settings_visual.cfg, depending on Armagetron version.

Yep, the default values for those settings are rather low at 0.2, and consequently quite dark. So, you'll want to increase those values. If you don't want them to impact your texture at all, set all values to 1. (Of course, if you want to tint your texture some, you can adjust the RBG accordingly.)
For moviepack, you'll edit these settings in the settings.cfg file that's in the moviepack folder itself.
For basic textures, you'll do it in a file called settings_visual.cfg in a folder called config that you'll probably have to create. I don't know what OS you're using, but on Macs that's located in ~/Library/Application Support/Armagetron Advanced/config/
Alternatively old-fashioned, you could stick the floor color settings (basic textures only) in autoexec.cfg, which goes in your var folder.

And don't forget: Floor Texture OFF + Floor Detail [Dual or Dual Textured] Plane = single color floor, no grid.
'Course, depending on the color you choose some cycles could blend into it. But then, I myself don't even use a floor/grid texture at all because the lines are too distracting—cycle walls become like zebras in a herd. It also hurts framerate. So, no floor (meaning, black) for me. But, sometimes I'll do the above combo with a gray color (e.g., R-0.5, G-0.5, B-0.4) on the rare occasion that I play during daylight hours when I get screen glare; helps cut down on that (or the effect of it, as it were).
