Old Tron Arcade game

well i was bored and browsing for aracde games and i came across this old tron game for aracdes and was wondering have any of you played it before?

There's no rubber.

As it's flash I wouldn't call it old - it's just a regular 2D version of Tron.

well it was listed with the old classic aracde games didnt know

You should check out sine.wav's Adventures of Tron << Original Arcade >>. After seeing the original tron movie in the theater with my dad, I started pumping lots of quarters into that game. I can say that sine has done an excellent job of replicating the gameplay, but now you can play with other people!

Well i tryed it out comp but i think its messed up big time i started going therw my own wall and then all of sudden i pause right on my tail and wouldnt move

I will talk with sine about it. The server just might need to be reset. Normally, that server just plain rocks.

That's FLTron. It was written by Dan Hsu sometime after Armagetron (2003?) and still developed today. I play multiplayer (FLTron 2.0) at the main site once in a while, but it's frustrating because my computer isn't fast enough to render the game and I get disconnected a lot. The player base is about the same size as ours.

Right. FLTron has already been discussed on this forum, and as sinewav noted, is recent.

The original TRON coin-op arcade game came out in 1982. Wikipedia page. There's a lot of info about it on the web. It can be played using MAME.*

The server "Original Arcade" was designed to imitate the lightcycle portion of that original 1982 arcade game within the Armagetron framework. (For the record, I did most of the settings design on that. Sinewav put together the rectangular map and custom AI, and of course hosts it. Collaborative effort.)

* Legal protection: Only if you own an actual TRON arcade cabinet, of course.

Very much so. It's been bothering me lately that people say "sine's server" because it's part of AoT. I'd like to tag the name Phytotron (or Oscilloscope) somewhere - but where? Server_options? MOD? What is best?

On TSP servers I have always done that in the server options. You do raise a valid point. Such servers should be referred to by brand.

A little something in the server_options would suffice. Can't put it in the MOD because it would ruin the awesome intro!

Me too. Twice. It's pretty hard until you know the trick, then it's still hard. You should play against people at FLTron.com.
