Possible to set specific colors for AIs?

Is it possible to set a specific color for AI, or AI teammates? Also, is it possible to select which AI's are on your team?

Yes and no. It's a little complicated.

You can assign team colors, and assign a number of players to teams (some can be AI), and you can rename/edit the AI players to your liking by opening "aiplayers.cfg" in your Armagetron directory. Have a look inside when you get a chance. Also, take a look at the AI and team related settings here, and especially the ones for single player games, as that is a good place to test them. Play around for a while and see what you can manage.

I entered an AI called "Tron" in the ai players. I want him to be a red bike like in the movie, and I want him on my team all the time. Can it happen?

Ok do this... Go into "Game Setup" and change AI Players: 0, Min. Teams: 2, & Min. Players Per Team: 2. This will give you two teams of two players. You'll notice "Cycles3D" is your teammate. Go ahead and open aiplayers.cfg and change the name Cycles3D to Tron. Now Tron is on your team. But to change the color of his bike and yours, you'll need to enter the following in the console:

TEAM_RED_2 15
TEAM_GREEN_2 0
TEAM_BLUE_2 0

Try that and see if that looks the way you want it. If you have a hard time, come back and I'll see if I can explain it differently.

NOTE: You should make a copy of aiplayers.cfg before you edit it in case you have problems and need to go back to the original.

There's also a way to go into a couple of the configs and change the automatic team colors and names (say, from gold and blue coming first, to red and green, or whatever), buuuut, we may not be there yet, or need to go there.

I guess what I'm trying to do can't be done at this time. See I had planned to be like Flynn in the Yellow bike, have Ram on the side in the Red one and Tron in the Gold. Like they are in the movie.

You need three teams (= three spawnpoints) with max. 1 player, then you can set the colors and names. that's all.

edit: although that doesn't solve the scoring problem...

How does the game pick the colors for the AIs? Is it just random? I notice if I set the 3 team color settings to 0, one of my team mates is always dark green and one is always dark blue. I keep getting teamed up with Linux too. I added a Tron to the ai players list and it's listed 2nd. Does the order on the list depict which AI will join your team?
