Tron Movie, New version?

I know you (Z-Man and the rest of the team) are already working at a newer version of Armagetron Advanced, but my advise should be "Release it now or as soon as possible!". Why? The new TRON movie is wonderfull and most people want to play it to, but then op de PC.

People gonna search on "Tron 3D game" at Google, your website is #1 on the results! Mmake good use of it, please

Of source you already know all this, but I still want to let you know it and I want to know what other people think about it?

Even if Armagetron 0.4 were release-ready today... heck, even if it had every feature we've thought of for it up to a month ago, it still wouldn't meet the expectations of anyone who just saw the new movie...

true tr2n origins isnt exactly original what do you mean it doesnt meet expectations?sure the movie was good but I love this game for what it is .its based on the tron movie sure but this game has its own class its own thing going for it but the only expectation I have realy had at all is some sort of loosley tron based mascot.

Not really, Less people playing the game -> Less people querying each server when connecting to the masters -> Less network activity -> Less lag, not per say any code optimization to be the reason why.


EDIT: Just saying my theory on the reason why there is less lag there, nothing against tr2n (incase it sounded that way)

No bogus rumours please. There has not been any optimization done and any apparent "less lag" or "higher fps" is solely due to the fact that there are fewer players on the fork.

Even if there had been those sorts of optimizations, it's irrelevant. It's not the kind of thing danger89 is talking about. Less lag doesn't make it more like Tron Legacy.

I'm not sure why 0.4 should be released ASAP because of the movie (it's a sequel, you know). As Luke-Jr intimated, it's not like it's going to be anything like the movie. If you just want a Legacy-style cycle model, you can use that in Arma right now.

Furthermore, I sincerely doubt we'll even attempt to emulate the new movie's light cycle sequence. Besides the fact that the movie itself totally sucked, so did the light cycle sequence.

However, after watching the movie, while standing outside the theater, smoking a cigarette, and waiting for my fiance's family to come out, I had a weird epiphany about tr2n. The whole point of TRON was to free the software, not lock it up. See the epiphany?
