Exceeded maximum allowed number of login attempts?

Tonight I tried to login as usual (fields at the bottom of the index page), but got the following page:

(Obviously, I went ahead and entered the CAPTCHA.)

Prior to this current session, I hadn't logged in since Monday, the 27th, nevermind any number of failed attempts. What's up?

Yea, I've noticed that as well. Just a moment ago, it happened again. The fourth time now, for my account, and I'm pretty sure that I haven't typo-ed all the time.

Maybe a new kind of spambot is trying to hijack accounts of regular posters?

It just happened with me too. But it only happened after I typed my password wrong the first time I tried to log in.

Happened again today. Definitely didn't enter anything incorrectly.


I also forgot to mention—though it may be unrelated and coincidental—that the same night as I made this thread, during the first session upon receiving that message, the forum gave me that Internal Error 500 message. I had to wait about an hour before being able to again connect and make this thread. (During that time I was also unable to authenticate in the game.)

Ah! Just got the error again. The forum was lagging/slowly loading prior to my making the preceding post. Then when I hit submit, I received the error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@forums3.armagetronad.net and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

So, perhaps not unrelated?

my password is stored but it also says that its wrong

I am most definitely not a regular poster and I was getting this every time too. The password is remembered so it's correct every time.
Well at least I know it's not my setup going nuts.

I think Tank should check the logs for account hijackers, as Z-Man suggested.

I haven't run into this myself, but then I only check the forums from my own hardware, where I keep the cookies around for a while.

I got this message too for the last few forced re-logins. First, there's the regular login prompt without the captcha, and even with the correct password, the second screen comes up. If I log out manually and log back in, the first login is accepted.
