console silence

Post by bAcklash »

Right, there are some people I never want to talk to, and are really annoying that are constantly posting messages. Is there anything I can put in my autoexec to automatically silence them for me when I join a server with the matching name.

Example: silence "ct|TheRoze"

And it would silenced anyone by that name, caps non included. Or included.

Sorry TheRoze, I don't want to silence you. :P

No, there is no way to do it automatically. One solution is to put all the names you want to silence in a new cfg file (use the About menu in the game to find the parent directory for the file), and include it when you enter a server.
silence.cfg wrote:SILENCE someone
SILENCE another person
When entering a server, you “include silence.cfg” in the console. You could also bind an instant chat key to “/console include silence.cfg”.

Can't you just put that in autoexec.cfg so it does that automatically?

autoexec.cfg is only executed when you first open the game, so not being in a server at the time it wouldn't do anything. I think

For that you have to go into the secret pru silencing menu by pressing shift + esc

Hasn't Z-Man asked you on more than one occasion to stop trolling, backlash? This plainly is, along with your 'Armagetron Marketplace' post, among others, including your avatar and sig graphic. Whomever you are and whatever in your mind Word and 'pru' did to make you so disgruntled and believe you need to go around getting your petty revenge (the "backlash"), this isn't the place to do it. (Nor are my servers, by the way.) Grow up, get over it, and bug off.

I'm not trolling. If this isn't the place to ask then Idk what is. I'll ask someone on IRC.
