A real webpage!

What do you want to see here? Some more categories, forums, and mods? Hmm...

A real webpage!

Post by andrew »

Pardon me if I'm being direct. A nice content management system would be really nice here. You could probably even transfer the phpBB forum to it, so all the posts and login information remains intact.

A webpage with some screenshots would really get more people into it I think... unless you're hiding from the Disney lawyers

I really like the way my website looks... www.x-tekcorp.com if anyone is interested in some nice EDA tools, have a look... Just had to promote myself for a second, but anyway the design is really nice for software becase you can present very little information, but have it look like allot more, and has a nice look and feel to it.

http://www.dpkrew.com and http://www.w-w-c.net are awesome. Could it be because I have something to do with them?

you know, I thought this site was an exeption since it doesnt really need an actual page. I mean, think about it.

What happens to Official sites? The site becomes a lack of interest, like every website because html is one of the most retarded codes ever, so updates regress over weeks or months. Then every update will end up being "Uh..yeah, Sorry for the no updates. Been busy. New vesion of AA in the works when I get around to it. Have A Lot of Side Projects." Which I give would take 3 months since school would be starting back up. Nothing personel, Everyone does it. I'm living proof. 8)

See, at least with these boards, the content is always updated and changed and everything is ran for people by people. So all questions and all updates, downloads, and miscellanious debris around the site is all archived and is easily accesable to everybody.

The board is just really easy to keep in check and maintained, real websites just become abnoxious within 3 weeks. You all know it too! 8)

Well what if a nice content management system was in place where more than one person had accesst to post updates? I really like this game, but only came upon it by chance when I installed all the games on my Mandrake 9.2 CD's. I think a little promotion would be great for this game and some screenshots are needed. It's free, open source, cross platform and network playable. Why hide it?

I rather like this game on a low profile. This game is pretty much the only one I play where everyone pretty much knows each other. I find it pretty fun that way. Also the Douche Baggery level is quite low for this game, I fear it will rise once more word is out.

I think that really defeats the purprose of an open source project. The more people a project can draw the greater the chances the game can improve. You musn't be afraid of change

It may be open source, but there is also the saying, "Too many cooks spoil the soup." Plus Im not quite sure how much can be added to this game with out destroying the principles of it. It is Tron after all.

BTW I did also see this game listed on www.mpogd.com
The power of word travels fast too, thats how i found out about the game.

I have to disagree, I don't believe that saying applies to software. And when I mean the game evolving I was talking about from the programming perspective. That can always benefit from a surprlus of programmers with unique skills to bring a less buggier, better looking game. The "fundamentals" of the game wouldn't necessarily change, and if they did they would fork into their own game (much like ArmagetronAd is a fork of the original Armagetron), and look at the improvement!

I myself am one statistic out of many so this doesnt apply to everyone, but AA crashes on me if the pressure outside isn't satisfactory. Although I may play tron daily, I usually quit when the game crashes. armagetron 2.5 2.6 I didnt have a problem with ever. Granted alot has been added in 2.7's but I think what I think needs to be worked upon are the servers is the only thing I can see improvement upon because I think servers have grown more unstable through out the updates. Note: Just because it is new does not mean it is better. Graphical Enhancements are not a need. Original Movie packs take care of that. I rather like these graphics too, Add To manythings and framerates will shoot down.

-I think this disccusion is going a little off course.

I was gonna start a rant, but I'll just stick with the punchline:

Why make the game open source if you want to discourage people working on it?
