fps

Post by wap »

Hey,

I thought my pc was pretty good but it seems it isn't. Tron isn't a heavy game for my pc I guess, but I only got fps between 20-40, while all my settings are on the lowest options possible (!). That's like: no floor, no textures, no alpha blending, playing on a low resolution (640x480), etc.

The specifications of my pc are (I've got this information by a download that tells you your specs):

Operating system:
Windows Vista Home Premium (build 6000)

Processor:
2,20 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
128 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Not hyper-threaded

Memory Modules:
2046 Megabytes Usable Installed Memory

Slot 'DIMM_4' is Empty
Slot 'DIMM_3' has 1024 MB (serial number 6C0A005D)
Slot 'DIMM_2' has 512 MB (serial number F8010D64)
Slot 'DIMM_1' has 512 MB (serial number F8010D60)

I have not idea what this all means lol, but it isn't that bad right? :P How come then that my fps sucks really? :/ Please tell it in understandable words, I haven't got much knowledge about computers. D:

Thanks in advance. =)

That's not bad but do you have a graphics card?...what's processing the video?

Some days ago i had the same problem, open the Task Manager (Strg+Alt+Entf), go to "Prozesses"(is that correct? xD) the second thing there on the top, and there is CZ_SEP_Machine, or/and PAStiSvc.exe, close them, and then your fps should be normal.

I second that question. The most important thing for good Arma performance is a graphics card. It doesn't need to be a high end model, but what it needs is a proper OpenGL enabled driver. You usually need to fetch it from the manufacturer's site. We can help there and point you to the right download location, but we need to know the graphics card model.

The keys you are saying are in German I guess, but I think it is Ctrl + Alt + ....? , then I think processes or something. I don't know what "Entf" is, but thanks for your help already.

@ Hoax

You mean this?

Microsoft iSCSI-initiator
NVIDIA nForce 430/410 Serial ATA Controller (2x)

I checked the web real quick. Here is the link to your graphics card driver download. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4 ... _8.26.htmlhttp://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4 ... _8.26.html

oh, both things you suggested to close aren't there on the list. :/ I guess I have to wait for Z-Man or someone else who can help me to find the right download for my graphics card. But thanks for bothering, roze. :)

Edit: Thanks comp, ima try that.

I just noticed that I gave you a link for an XP driver.

Here is a link for the Vista driver: [urlhttp://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winvista32_15.00G.html][/url]

Hmm, I downloaded the link comp gave me, installed it and restarted the computer. What do I have to do now? Because I don't see any differences atm.

Umm, while the driver link may work, the info given just means you have an NVidia nForce chipset on your mainboard. If you're using the onboard graphics (to check, look behind your PC where the cord from the monitor connects. If the connector sits there vertically, you're using onboard graphics, if it's horizontal, you have a separate graphics card), that's fine, but if not, not.
