Server who doesn't appear

Post by Bigbowser »

I've a AA dedicated server (2.7.1 on winxp), I've configured it, that works perfectly on LAN and on Custom Connection but it isn't listed on the Internet game list.
What the problem?

do you have an open line to the internet? Did you make sure to make the server available to the master server from your config files? Are the propper ports open? whats the name of the server? I'll see if you can really custom connect or if its just finding it in the lan.

If you're on the LAN with the server then you will not see it. Check the frommaster.srv file for your IP. If it's there it's listed. If not, then you have a problem...

I see my servers just fine from the LAN in the master server browser. Always have. Have also always been confused when people post that they can't.

With some NAT routers you can't reach yourself via your external IP. I've seen it happen myself (I think that was an Alcatel Speedtouch 510i). Maybe you can change it in the config?

I know I've never been able to... Which is funny because my domain works on my lan...

I don't know, man, I've used two linksys routers and a netgear router so far and not had this problem. Of course, it's only the last linksys that I've used with armagetron as a server on my LAN, but the others have always pinged properly and so forth when hitting my external IP from the LAN.

It doesn't make sense to me because if the router doesn't directly support routing a request from the LAN to the external IP it should just pass it on to the WAN, and the next router up should just send it back, and the router should then route it correctly as an external packet.

My linksys is smart enough to know that I'm trying to hit another computer on the LAN, though. :) I like this router a lot, wish they'd give me the source code for the kernel. :/

I dont really know much about setting up routers. I had alot of trouble opening the ports for bit torrent. I knew exactly what to do, but it wasn't working. I emailed the router tech support people and they told me that id done exactly what i should have done and that it should be working it wasn't however.

A simple way i got around this was to enable uPnP. I dont if this will work for an armgetron server?.
