Here is a website I found which would be fair to generate names for Ladles, 1vs1 Sumo, etc.
1. Enter all the names in the order the players signed up. (Simply copy & paste, no manual entry required!)
2. Randomize!
If there are 32 slots to fill, and only 28 players. 4 people get a buy into the next round, not having to play the first round. Choose the first 4 people and these will be the people that get that buy. (You insert these names from 1 thru 4 into the first 4 servers of the second round, and the same method if there is a buy for the third round)
Players 5&6 play each other first. Players 7&8 play each other first. And so on.
You can also Randomize the servers too. Enter server names, and from top to bottom on the ladder that will be the server you are playing in. (This should be done first, probably easier. However this is not really necessary to randomize servers)
When you first enter the names of all the participants, you can copy and paste all the names after you entered them for the first time.
A very FAIR way to pick all people. Even a video should be made of this and then posted to show that it was fair, and eliminate any errors or questions. The video would begin once all the names were entered, and record till all was finished. Shouldn't last more than a minute since this is how FAST this thing works. No more time wasted randomizing the current way, and this eliminates questions in ALL forums about the method players were picked.
What do you think? It would be MUCH faster than the current way they are randomizing, and everyone gets to witness the video.
With this randomizer you can also:
Part 2: Choose Output Format
How do you want the items to be shown?
On a nicely formatted web page (type text/html)
As a bare-bones text document (type text/plain)
Part 3: Choose Randomization
Do you want a new randomization or one that was prepared earlier? [explain this]
Generate your own personal randomization right now
Use pregenerated randomization from
Use pregenerated randomization based on persistent identifier (max 64 alphanumeric characters)

I do think that the randomization via IRC bot we're currently doing is fair and transparent enough.

yes the ones we have now work fine. i plan on modifying the code i used for 1on1 slightly to allow user inputted names sent through php to the python server.
it will actually be the simplest to copy and paste

If it aint broke, don't fix? If anyone else on the side organizes a tourney, you have something to use.

Yeah, I saw you posted this on other forums. Good idea. It's a pretty small bunch that uses the IRC channel and the .randomizer. Thanks Robo.Robot69 wrote:If anyone else on the side organizes a tourney, you have something to use.
