map files
I am running dedicated on mac os x and am testing it. When I do, it says the map file is trying to corrupt system files or something. I did attempt to use a map file that is NOT the default. I REALLY need help ![Confused :?](./images/smilies/icon_confused.gif)

Re: map files
Post the full error message and your configuration, please. (The line with MAP_FILE in it should be enough)

Re: map files
Your MAP_FILE line?
It probably reads something like
MAP_FILE /Applications/Armagetron\ Advanced/resources/included/<bla>
Change it to
MAP_FILE <bla>
Map filenames must be given relative to the resource root folder.

Re: map files
I still get the error when i do it from the resource.
I downloaded the non default files from resource.armagetronad.net

Re: map_file line
That's normal, because earlier clients don't have map support.pie goes moo wrote:PS I noticed it said ";clients older than 0.2.8_beta3 will not be allowed in"
You need to store the maps you download INSIDE the Armagetron resource directory for them to work. Please paste your exact input and error messages here. Can't say that often enough. Especially since you're on a Mac, apparently, and my main experience here is with the Linux version which has massively different paths.

Re: map files
They are in the resource directory, I made a MapFile folder inside the resource.
It also says
![Question :?:](./images/smilies/icon_question.gif)
It also says
[0] ERROR: User given path "/config/examples/deathzone.cfg" is an absolute path. You're not allowed to access files outside of the configured file hierarchies.

Re: map files
Get rid of the "/config/", with both slashes.

Re: map files
I also tried it without the first slash[0] ERROR: User given path "/examples/deathzone.cfg" is an absolute path. You're not allowed to access files outside of the configured file hierarchies.
[0] Configuration file "examples/deathzone.cfg" to be included not found.

Re: map files
Look, we really need more details. Your exact configuration and the exact errors server AND client are giving.

The server just takes it until someone logs on to the server, then it just says the same thing.pie goes moo wrote:Log:
