easy to use map choice
Many people want to play a new map or something they downloaded of the internet to make there local games more interesting. Changing the config file is not very hard but I do picture that many people probably do not want to venture in there. Don't you think that it would be convenient to be able to change the map in the options menu? That is my idea anyway, I hope you like it.

Linux is the future, do not fight it, go with it. If your computer is fast or slow Linux is the way to go.

You can change a map locally, or in a server you have proper access in, with Map_file <insert map name>. Hit ` in local game(or lan) then type that, or /admin, in an online server.
You've gone too far, turn back!

I think he means have a menu option where you can browse through your stored maps.

Yep. While we all agree more convenience there would be practical (I think), just browsing for maps (which is a bit nontrivial) probably doesn't suffice. Many maps only work properly with certain setting ranges. This belongs into the 'make local play better' can of worms.

I do not rember but can you set up your map file to be able to load its own settings?

Yeah, but those are discouraged for two main reasons:
1. Those settings are persistent; if you change to a new map, the settings from the old map not explicitly overridden stick around, possibly even get saved in user.cfg
2. it reduces the usability of the map. Just because you like fortress with 5 rubber doesn't mean everybody does.
