I want to bring back Fortress for Four

I and a whole team of Americans want to bring back Fortress For Four as a monthly Tournament...perhaps 2 weeks after the ladle. I want your guys input and thoughts.
The following is a link to the original discussion on the Wild West forums that was a follow up to me putting up a Fortress for Four Server and testing the waters in the American fortress community!

Yeah, rant: requiring an account for read access is BAD. Servers nothing. (I know it's neither your decision nor your fault. But complaining is the only means available to me that has a chance to change things there, so I do.)

We (meaning CT) were also thinking of something of that sort

we were leading on the lines of

Four Fortresses For Four
4 teams 4 forts

probably would be best to do it 3rd Sunday of each month since ladle is on the first

That was my thought also...even spacing in the calendar and all.
One other thought.
I have a VPS that is mostly unused...and was meant for tourneys.
I could easily host 4 servers for this. My thought was to kind of separate American and Euro teams. So, perhaps Four Fortresses for Four American and Euro Versions. I was hoping to give some American teams, at least in the first round, their first experience in a tourney. I thought that since the purpose of this is to bring more players into fortress we ought to give more thought to getting teams to playing in servers that they are most likely to experience the least lag in.
As I have stated before, that is the reason I have chosen a hosting situation that is based in Connecticut, USA. Thus far, it has proven to be reasonable for West coast americans and Europeans as well.
If CT could bring a few servers to the party, then we certainly can make it truly international in scope. Smoothice, has also told me privately that he would be willing to host for this.
I am glad to hear that CT was already thinking about this, it is a natural thought to enhance things.

I would gladly be a part of forming a new group to administer such a competition! I really think that we should get on board with this by the third week of April!

yeah, I saw that before..

And I have seen other efforts that haven't seemed to have worked out.

Why can't 2 or three of us just decide that we want to host it and work out the details together in irc, skype, or some other interactive medium?

That's two, the 2008 FFF needed 4, but didn't have any american server.

Did I get it right you wanted to split it into EU/US brackets?

Also, if done monthly, people get bored, I quickly learned that with TST, so I'm really not in favor of this.

Ack. In fact, all developers that I didn't forget about have permanent admin access on the bugfarm servers, so feel free to hijack them in case I'm not around.

Durka: Ok, but can you upgrade them so they don't get crashed the way Corn did

Oh, and be kind and give a GID you use. Either yours or someone you want to admin instead of you. I'll probably do the same than with TST.
