Mac OS X 10.2.8 Tester Needed

Post by dlh »

I just want to check compatibilty with older systems. I have two computers, one is running 10.4 and the other is running 10.3.9, so they are fairly recent. I know people out there are still running 10.2, so we need to make sure there are no major hicups.

I have included the libxml2 version that was on my system, just in case older Mac OS X versions don't have xml2 (not quite sure). Libpng is not installed on vanilla OS X boxes, so obvisiouly I had to include that.

New to this version:

Your user settings are now stored in "~/Library/Application Support/Armagetron" <-- (this will change to Armagetron Advanced for the offical release). Prior, you had to be a system administrator to run the game, no longer is that needed.

http://www.generalconsumption.org/externals/armagetron: please download the latest version on this page and report back what OS you are using and if it worked or not. Run a local game, connect to an internet server, and connect to the Hexatron internet server, please.

Thanks

Works for me on 10.4 (not an old version, but I report it anyway).

I've included libiconv and libz, because I don't know if older systems have them. All dependency issues should now be cleared up, I just need a 10.2 user to test again. I am uploading it now, you will be able to download it from aabeta.dashjr.org.

For reference: BEZ's libiconv issue

Edit: OK, all uploaded. Download the 2005-06-02 release.

OK, I downloaded it last night. I'm on 10.2.8 as well. Same problems. Wouldn't launch (just showed flashing in the dock, then crashed), and then the trash issue you referenced.

I suppose I could do some testing for you, although I'm not terribly tech-minded; it would just depend what you needed. Nor do I have the hottest machine around (600 MHz G3, 265 MB, ATI RAGE 128 Ultra), but I guess that's actually not a bad thing, if you want to test broad useability. So, just let me know what all you need of and from me, and I'll see what I can do.

Plus, if by my testing anything can be done about the couple of issues I'm having (I'll post in the support section) then...huzzah.

I found an old hard-drive laying around, and installed 10.2 on it. The problem now is some wmset issues, even though I have defined #HAVE_WMSET 0 in config.h. I will try building on the 10.2 computer, maybe that will fix everything :-\ (building on 10.4 currently).

That hasn't been up for a while... :\
Is there interest in my running it? IIRC, my server is too laggy for most players.
