Running dedicated server behind a router & on different

Post by jeffayle »

Okay, I have my server pretty much set up, but what I need to do now is allow people outside my lan to connect. I have had the port 50 000 redirected to my computer, so now I need to change the port the server runs on, and allow people to connect from outside my lan (if it isn't like this by default)

Thanks

Wiki says:

Code: Select all

TALK_TO_MASTER 1 # try to get on the server list
SERVER_PORT 50000 # good luck figuring out this one

Alright, it's now binding to port 50 000, but when I go to the game and connect, it wont let me select a port higher that 4540, do I have to use a port lower than that?

And I don't want my server to show up on the list, I just want it to be to connectible to people outside my lan.

Oh well, I already changed the port. I think it might be working, but I'm not sure, and don't have anyone online who could test it for me, could someone here see if they can connect to it? 67.193.96.160:4534

It works when I connect as localhost, or with my internal ip, but not when I try to connect with my external ip.

That probably means that either this isn't your external IP either the redirection isn't effective.

Yes, but I would like it if someone else could test it so that I can see if the problem is something with the game on my computer.

[edit] Nvm, I fixed it. I forgot to open port 4534 after I changed it from 50 000

I had tried and it didn't work.

PS: I still can't connect.

Oh, I shut it down once I got it working, but I guess it'd be good to check if other people can connect, it's running now if you want to try it again.
