Idea for single-player story line

Post by Kenai »

I saw the post on the main page, saying that if anyone had a story idea to please share it. Now, I'm not a professional writer or anything, but I have do have an idea for a cool storyline, that doesn't rip off the movie (haven't seen it, but have read the plot summary).

So, to start we have you, player one, who is entering a professional moto racing association. The catch, of course, is the whole thing with the walls behind the bikes. You are informed that nobody ever dies by hitting a wall, as they, the holograms, the arena's look and feel... everything but your bike itself is a hologram generated by the arena's advanced tech group. You are thrilled, and go up against your first opponent.

Soon, you advance to a second opponent, and then a third, ect. In the storyline, this would be because you are gaining fame, and can be put onto prime-time and sub-prime-time events- a step above the late-night filler for channels like SIMIEN (International Sports Mainstream and Intelligent Entertainment Network) that you were previously doing.

After a while, you are approached by a group that wants you to race for them. You get a better, faster bike, as well as some better, faster opponents seeings as how you've moved into the big time.

And... yeah.

I am afraid that I won't be of much help actually implementing this if it's accepted, as I don't know any programming language yet and am swamped building web pages at the moment. I could, however, think of more stuff if you wanted.

Anyways, God bless you all, and have a nice day or more!

Edit- Yes, I have played/am playing the game... and am very bad at it thus far :P

I think the main problem with turning Arma into an RPG is that it's very much of a dueling game. You always start out the same, whether you're a total newbie or one of the best. The only way to win is to be more effective at exploiting the same moves that everyone has. Other than increasing skill, which would be very difficult to implement with bots at best (there's a reason they usually suck, or are like idiots with aimbots that aren't very interesting to play; and 'aimbots' don't have much potential in Arma), there isn't much that can be done without fundamentally changing the game.

i quite like this story line. This would be something like the "hero" starts off with a huge rep, and then desides where to go with it. I'll be hosting a server soon, just for practice. Something like low speed, high rubber, strong -1 brakes, etc. I think most people say in order of speeders:
Speeders Server
ID Immortal Dynasty High Rubber
Forgotten Warriors HR
That's about it.
top being the most noobs found, bottom being the least noobs found.
No offense to anyone ofcourse, tell me if there is.

Being the noob isn't bad as long as you're the best noob =D.
