Competition/Championship?

Post by Sabarai »

I just was thinking, i bet u all heard some weird crackling sound... But anyway, wouldn't it be nice if we make a championship with as much as possible arma players? We should find a time suitable for almost everyone and anounce the day (saturday or sunday). It would be like a gathering of all veteran arma players... So nicolas should be there as well since he played it a long time, but not anymore :(... Some other well known players should come, like Zapple; he isn't on the grid anymore right? but he was a good player and well known and active on the forums... Also all the developpers, so klax as well; haven't seen him ever on the grid yet :P... think about it ad mention some sutable times...

My suggestion is March 19th @ uhm... 12 GMT?? other times r possible 2, dunno if USA is awake then... Think about it and post your suggestion.

Also some server should be launched for the event; something like Armagoshdarn for the ones remebering. It should be in a place where nobody has an advantage, else it would be unfair or ppl go whining about lag. If u have more lag than others it's u; stop your downloads or something... Think about how cool it would be :)

Have you ever wondered what Tigers Network Team Play is about?

A quickshot: i always felt sorry that the team play is so underrated. but due to that rather chaotic/random assignments of teams (which results in things like 5 vs 4 vs 1 vs 1) is scaring away new players as it annoys long timers (at least that's how i feel it).

i wasn't around in the armagetron scene for quite a while so maybe there are possibillities by now that i have missed. but i spent some time on the team server again and it was the same situation like months before.

so, i think it would be a technically minor but generally eligible request to have some "smart" team management rather than the current method. as i said, this is a quickshot.. some ideas are here, but that's not quick...

cheers,

I went on the Tigers Team Play server one night, actually, a few months ago. Had a great time. People kept joining my team because I let myself be randomly assigned, and they kept screwing with my game. So I finally just started killing them so I could be by myself. Held my own against two teams of 3, even gained ground on them (I had started on a team that was in last place and finished the team in second place). Yaza was on one of the opposing teams, so it's not like I was playing against noobs, there were a number of experienced players.

I agree the chaotic/random assignments is kinda annoying. I'd like to see a way to register teams and have the assignment work off that, then end with chaotic/random assignment to make up differences. The advantage is that you can expect to be paired with preferred teammates, and you still have to work with other teammates that you may not like.

Let's keep in mind that the greatest strength of the existing system is taht you get paired with people you're not familiar with, or you've only played against them compettiively, or whatever. In the end, you learn to adapt to different styles of play in different ways, and it really adds to the challenge. I'd like to keep that aspect ofthe system as much as possible.
