Release process for 0.2.7.1
Release process for 0.2.7.1
We decided ( OK, I suggested, klax supported the suggestion and Tank did not protest heavily enough ) to make the release process public so we get a bit of testing from the one or the other community member and can correct mistakes before we made the effort of a full release. The process goes as follows: I publish source tarballs and some others build binaries from that. Files will be published here, non-developers can download them, but on their own risk. Of course, we're more than happy about bug reports. Feature requests however should stay out of this thread. Even tiny ones.
So here's the third release candidate tarball.
Bugs fixed since rc 2:
- Rubber code was not the same for everyone, high FPS players still had an advantage
- Sensors sent out of the rim wall gave back wrong distance measurements, possibly confusing the AI and rubber
- CONSOLE_MESSAGE now adds a newline
- CONSOLE_DECORATE_IP works now
- the rc.d start/stop scripts should work now ( tested on gentoo and suse )
- german menu title corrected ( it read Armagetron Advanced Advanced... )
- correct version.h
The docs say they're not updated for 0.2.7.0, but that's true, too. It will be corrected if there'll be another release candidate.

Here are some RPMs I built from rc 3. I built them on Gentoo and tested them on SuSE 9.1 Personal. They're gzipped so the forum accepts them, I know it does not make them smaller
They require libstdc++ version 5.
Edit: systems that use GCC 3.3 will have that version.

These are not windows executables, these are linux files. (So far. I'll post windows binaries as soon as I can.)
