Could you try to be more specific? What do you mean by slow motion? Low FPS? Or are the cycles moving at low speed in a local game? Do network games work? Has it always been like that or did it work fine just yesterday?

What do you mean by "start"? Start the program? Hit the "Internet Game" menu item? What do you mean by "goes slow"? How many servers did it say it received? What do you mean by "freezes"? How long did you wait to check that it's not just taking a while to finish? Did you have to kill the program with the task manager or was a full reboot required? Please answer all questions and describe what you are doing as best as you can.

Which part of "please answer all questions" did you not understand? It is vital to know what you mean by "slow"and what kind of freeze you got and whether this happened the very first time you run AA already or whether you've been playing for ten years already but got the problem just now.

And by vital I mean that without the answers, my verdict has to be that it is something with your PC, probably buggy/not current/not installed OpenGL drivers. Which you won't accept since you said there is nothing wrong with it, so this gets us nowhere. I'm not asking these questions to annoy you or to appear stupid, I'm asking them so I don't have to annoy you with shot-in-the-dark verdicts like this.

What version of Armagetron is this, anyway? And what operating system?

There is a good reason for it. 0.2.8.2.1 has some important security fixes. See, we got an email from a guy who periodically looks for vulnerabilities in software pointing out a couple of vulnerabilities. The fix was put in 0.2.8 branch, and it would be released with 0.2.8.3. A few months later (weeks? Something like that), the guy posted in his own place about the vulnerabilities. So we had to do an emergency release. We were gearing up for 0.2.8.3, but z-man wound up just applying the fix to 0.2.8.2 and releasing it as 0.2.8.2.1, and 0.2.8.3 was delayed so we could do a little more with it.

Nevertheless, the development series will only be Major.Minor.Revision, so 0.3.0, 0.3.1, etc. If an emergency situation like that appears there, we may or may not do the same thing. But in the future, i.e. after 0.2.8, we intend to only have 3 places in the version and not do the crazy versioning that's been done.

Traditionally, all sentences that end with a question mark (?) are considered questions. Why don't you go back and try to find some in previous posts that you haven't answered yet? That is the fastest way to get the help you need.

The other way, if you can't manage to handle several questions asked at once, would be that we ask only one question per post in the future, which is tedious for you and us likewise and takes much longer.
