RUDEBOY's Tips

Post by RUDEBOY! »

here are my tips for how to beat people....sometimes.....

1.be as unpredictable as possible.

2. Always, Always, ALWAYS watch your back. especially at teh start of a game. if your controls are standard glance back left and right are the arrow keys or you can set tehm to wahtever in the camera control options inside the player settings menu.

3. if you know someone is following you and grinding your wall if you have the leway wait until their lagometer arrow is just a centimeter or 2 behind your bike then u turn like youve never u turned before usually gets em carful tho if your timing i just a fraction of a second off it can go horribly horribly wrong.

4. if you are fairly close to a wall but not grinding dont be greedy and try to swerve closer unless you know exactly what you're doing. this is especially true in servers with minimal rubber in armagoshdarn its easier.

5. never expect you are going to beat someone elses grind if youre going up agains someone elses grind on an outer wall make sure you can get out just in case.

6.in a fight it is imperative to know where the other person is at all times, avoid turnong around unless its your only option and try not to turn in if youre being boxed if you havent ground many walls before in that fight try a U turn or reversal if yo can sure you're running away but sometimes its your only choice.

7. If you are up against someone youve never seen or heard of before dont underrestimate them and think you're better than them they may be vets in oter servers and just came to yours because theirs was down or crowded. or tehy may be vets who have changed thier names to dupe the overconfident Stay Humble never think youre better tahn someone else even if you are they might suprise you then youd really be sorry.

8. DONT WORRY ABOUT YOUR LADDER SCORE especially if its a survivor ladder if you get all pissed about it youll just dull yor reflexes. forget teh ladders tehy mean nothing they arent going to earn you respect only playing well and being a good sport will do that.

9. stay mellow if you are all riled up or too happy or something it can affect your preformance. dont drink too much caffeine itll make you twitchy. some people swear by inhebriation and i think we all know about wallywallwhackr's drug habits. they say it makes you better. i wouldnt suggest it.

10. be a good sport. if you are a total asshole people will be guning for you and want to take you out if you want to be fairly matched be a nice guy. same goes for spammers. dont spam please it annoys everyone and if you arent careful in some servers theyll kick you.

11. know your enemy if you know who the best is its best to stay defensive. dont do things you think may trap tehm i guarantee they know em all.

12. dont hesitate to kill your buddies if your friends are playing against you dont heisitate. you have to be ruthless in the game because they probly wont hesitate against you.

well those are my tips if you want to add or correct feel free

That's good: stay mellow is the most important. Try listening to music, it helps. I always listen to 60s classics when I play Armagetron and I'm a pretty good player because of it (that and a log of practice). Typing lyrics from the song your listening to is a good way to distract your self, so that you are more free to concentrate on the game. Don't question the contradiction but just do it. (Plus it kindof distracts everyone else.)

yes music is important. try to stay away from heavy metal and hardcore punk. Electronic is pretty good something with a fairly repetitive beat is good. i listen to ska and some punk rock and hip hoop once and while. angry hip hop is sorta bad tho sometimes it totally psychs you out

well ya you have to be pumped but there is a fine line between pumped and idiocy if you are getting far too exited or anooyed change your music or jsut sit and breathe until the next match to get yo back on track

Also, chat plays a big part in this as well, now that I think about it. Always be nice in chat. Don't talk trash, Armagetron isn't a game for that. Always, Always, keep your cool. Getting pissed off is the easiest way to do. There's a fine line between idiocy and EVERYTHING, not just pumpedness.

(Sorry if I repeated any tips, that just means they are more important.)

Study zen buddhism or rastafarianism depending on your views on pot. its easier to find buddhist books tho. it will keep your brain open free of emotion while playing. nice and empty

I would not hesitate to kill my friends... If they were people who are worse then me. But, most of them are better, so... You know...

more good info for me RUDE! thx

I live by tip #6

as for tip #12 and who's first to go after, it's not a matter of freindship - it is a matter of proximity

I like to listen to rammstein/ac-dc (loud!) or put Tron in DVD player with repeat on lightcycle sequence chapter and have lots of fun trying to beat these guys (Armagosdarn players) because they are really, really good..

If at the beginning of a round you glance right and some poor sap was unlucky enough to get spawned behind you, don't have any qualms about dumping them in the first three seconds of the round. Thay have more than enough time to turn.

On the other side of the coin, if you glance left at the beginning of the round and find that YOU are the unlucky sap, be wary. =)

since most people are getting used to that manuveur too, I like to circle back around my own tail every once in a while and come up from the opposite side of the start of their trail. Sometimes this works, sometimes you have a head on collision in the first 3 seconds.

If this doesn't work, RUN FORREST, RUN!!
