Germans around here take note

I realize arma isn't technically an FPS game, and it's just a draft law, but it's something we should probably care about, especially if this guy actually looks like he might succeed.

The draft law, a reaction to a school shooting that shook German public opinion last month
Grr. Did he ever READ the suicide note of the guy in question?
Not only did he never talk about any kind of computer games, he actually critisized things that noone's caring about in reaction, actually he critisized society as a whole, including the media. Oh, wait a sec, most media failed to mention this. Oops, I guess they must have missed that.

I wouldn't worry too much, though, there have been attempts like that before.

Btw, if I developed a violent game, I still wouldn't be a violent developer. In that sense I agree. If someone is too violent (s)he should be put in jail no matter if (s)he's a game developer or not.

Beckstein? Hah! He's a known law and order control freak, and maximally incompetent. He doesn't have a single clue about games and what they're about. Normally, I'd give his initiative zero chances for success. Unfortunately, the coalition treaty of the two currently ruling parties includes that they'll outlaw violent games. Back when the treaty was made, everyone thought this was just a populistic statement without real meaning that never would have practical consequences because it was formulated so vaguely. But it looks like Beckstein and that other guy from Lower Saxony can now use it to push support for their initiative. It's madness, as usual.
