3.0 dedicated is bombing on me

Post by Swampy »

System is running Windows 2000 SP4 - fresh install.

I loaded the 3.0 release last night and it's died twice on me this morning. I get disconnected like the system lost it's network connection -yet the Internet and everything else runs just fine. The console doesn't even accept any keyboard strokes. How do I troubleshoot this?

Tried doing a recording? That would be the most helpful debug information.

ok, i made the recording. I just noticed that the server terminates but stays active. The window that it was running in was at a c:\ and I could type text into it this last time. I noticed the machine was running poor so I went into the task manager and the dedicated_server was running at 99%cpu. I closed the dos window and it cleared the server instance from running.

No luck playing this back here. The AIs do different things. Would it be possible to get another recording without them? Otherwise, this is on my "to try when I boot into Windows next time" list.

just an fyi - I removed 3.0 and installed 2.8 and that's running smooth. No problems at all and it's been up all day.

Oh yeah. Sorry, the second recording didn't play back all too well either (a bit better than the first), so I'm waiting for the next Windows boot cycle.

Thanks. Here are the settings in case you would like to see how they behave for you.

hmm, sorry. I played a bit with the config. Nothing unusual. I played back the recording. It doesn't crash or hang, I just get the usual "recording ends here, prepare for a crash" message. The crash doesn't come.

It's running the older build just fine and I don't know if I'm going to keep a third game server up or not, so let's just put this one to bed.

Thanks though - and I do appreciate the efforts.
