Towards Capture the flag sty: It is really fun, I know I have thought what CTF in tron would be like, probly alot of people have thought about it too, and its better than I thought it could be, a very fun mod. Just wondering whats going to happen to styball, that was a great idea/game too, I enjoyed that one alot.
Towards the FPS lagg: I have noticed this in 3 servers before, CTF, Z-man's one that wasn't fortress related(I forget the name), and Gamma Deathmatch server. All of those have/had respawning enabled and the last two didnt have Zones at all so maybe it has something to do with respawning? Anyway hope that helps.

You've gone too far, turn back!
Styball is on hiatus while I play with CTF. My connection isn't that great, so one 8 person server is all I've been able to run all that well. Also, CTF has been a little more popular than Styball based on my server logs.Van-hayes wrote:Just wondering whats going to happen to styball, that was a great idea/game too, I enjoyed that one alot.
One idea I was toying around with was to make a combo of the two. The CTF server with just 2 players is boring. So, if the number of players is low, I could make the flags act like a ball where you try to hit the enemy flag into your home base. I could make a round time limit also where after 5 minutes, the game turns into a CTF Ball game. Imagine the complaints I'd get about that!
I'm hoping to pretty up the code this week for both Styball and CTF and post a patch so that someone else can put up a server :B) It would be kind of fun to have a 16 player CTF.

You don't miss what you don't know.Jonathan wrote:Unplayable 15 FPS? When I first played Armagetron I played it on an old machine with software rendering. 25 FPS peaks at the lowest possible settings, but on average probably about 15. And I didn't do all that bad.
Knowing and learning how to play on 100-300 fps, and then trying to play the same way with only 10-15 is what kills you.
It doesn't when you have a lot of good players who know what they're doing. I think one of our rounds went for a good 40 mins or so.the pig wrote:That seems to take care of itself though, once the FPS drops too much everyone starts dieing :B)

I really hate round time limits... How about a sudden death time? After a certain amount of time, either respawns stop working, or the next flag to be captured ends the round?Fonkay wrote:It doesn't when you have a lot of good players who know what they're doing. Would be nice if the round could just end, without awarding points for end of round. Although I don't know if that is possible. Just count down and then restart the round.
