I guess I haven't played there in a while, or just forgot they changed that, but I was talking about when it had boost as well. I do remember how the settings would be tweaked every so often though.

Back on topic with rubber, I always seem to have more fun in fortress or sumo if an admin lowers the rubber to 1 or 2. For me 1-3 is low,4-6 is medium and anything above that is high. Though in some types of servers, such as racing, rubber is unimportant and should be ridiculously high as killing someone isn't the goal. Other than that I don't see the point of having it in the double digits.

The only time rubber should be in double-digits is if it's a 0.2.7.1 client.

when my magic *10 multiplier was still in the src. (I did it because i didnt want to a decimal point ... would have been slower but i still wanted resolution) with the old way you could see how ridiculous 150 would look.

It's that one. And yes, even with zero regular rubber, you can still have rubber from ping.

High rubber's good if you like driving bumper cars. In fact, when I want to play high rubber, I go down to the local amusement park and just drive bumper cars.

High rubber's even better if you wear a helmet while having sex.

In fact, I think high rubber's at its best when you always play every game at the beginner/training mode because you just don't have the talent to ever be able to play at "normal" difficulty.

except ctf (SP/CT sucks there ><)
I think it's true that forters are good players in other game modes, but often because these modes are fort-like...as soon as they're confronted with something new (different cycle_delay/speed) they often get confused and disoriented. I for instance don't have a clue what to do in racing; but i still occasionally play in Yellow Submarine :P

Say what? Besides Sumo, name another "fort-like" game. Note: CTF is not fort-like.

armagedosharn, onslaught, nexus (there are lots of differences - but i play there like in fort, just without doublebinds), and fortfzx/whalehunt, if that counts :P

(on that note....what happened to "111"? :<)

I have noticed that when I do for some reason (mostly for a specific person) go into df, hr, ctf etc that I'm naturally good at it. I think its because fortress is low rubber and its a lot harder to die/kill people. Except for racing, I suck at that.

Is Nexus still popular? Playing in there is mad fun too.

That's still Fortress. Fortress Onslaught. It's not a "fort-like" game, it is Fort.

Yeah, like no zones and completely different physics. Again, I don't see how those are "fort-like".
