Hello,
Anybody knows why in some servers the pings are totally unreal? Pings of 1, 2 5 or 10 are "normal" values in those servers...
If I run a server to play in a 100 Mbps LAN the lowest pings are 30-40. So... The conclusion is clear... Hacked pings?
All we know that many players look just before playing their pings... If the ping is OK (<140 or < 150) they stay to play. If the ping is high they run away as soon as possible...
Good trick if i can hack the pings, so the player is totally defenceless becouse he has less arguments about supposed lag...

Hack the pings? Is it possible? Is it wise?
We are here today to talk about tomorrow. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow will soon be today.

I believe the low pings you are seeing are due to some sort of memory overflow in the dedicated server that starts after aproximently 3 months of uptime. Or something like that. The conclusion I have presented is due to me observing that after 2-3 months of uptime on my Tigers Network Armagetron servers, the pings have become unrealistic.

wow, interesting theory to say the least (tank's).
speaking for myself, i've shown up plenty of times on the goshdarn servers and had pings in the single digits. but i'm not a hacker. go figure.
apropos, iceman mentioned something recently about ADDING to ping, altho the trick didn't seem to work for me...

2-3 months uptime! LOL!
I usually restart the armagetron-dedicated process once every two-three days...

as a temporary fix why not have the server automatic restart each day
thats until you find and fix the dodgy code

Can't do that, because for some stupid reason for it to log in with Master Server the firewall has to be turned off...

It's the uptime I tell you. Too long and the pings get wacked. Would explain it happening on Armagoshdarn a while back...

well if its using these wacked pings in its ping charity calulations then that would explain a lot of the lag problems
