well done for all participants
and everyone who helped pull of this minor miracle
it ended with an all-AW final
but
i don't have a record of who was playing
where
etc
so
if you have any details
please visit
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/ ... onic_Ladle
to record results and how the games went...
also
you can visit
http://wiki.armagetronad.net/index.php/Ladle_Feedback
to give some feedback
with suggestions on how to improve the next one...
the wiki needs re-organising
and indeed
the whole ladle set-up needs to be revamped
to make the evening run a little smoother...

hold the line
wd and gz to AW.
But 2020, i have to say that the organisation was shocking. No one knew who they were playing, where they were playing or when they were playing.
imo, if you want the ladle to keep working, you NEED to have everything sorted out well before hand. Either here or on the wiki, just put "At 7:30 gmt, Clan A Vs Clan B in Server A" etc, all the way through the tournament so that everyone knows what they are doing. It was chaos with 6 teams, how are you going to manage 1000 people, as in your pipe dream?
even the itw was organised better, and that was Ady ffs.... Ady!

It was organized. What totally blew everything apart was that Durka decided to make a new brackets page that conflicted with the information already there. Noone knew with what authority Durka did that and which information to follow. Shortly after that I lost track about what was going on and gave up, just looking into the IRC channel to see where I was supposed to go, which was hard enough.

experiment
thanks
infamous
captains finally made use of the challenge board
and there was provisional bracketing for the games
the only problem was
as we all know
is who actually is going to turn up
and how many per team etc
but
for a combination of reasons
the captains did not follow follow it up...
but i agree that it has to be clearer next time...
i hold to one principle
one
and that is to stick to the timings
if we manage that...
everything will run smoothly whether for 50 or 1,000 or more players
the trick is
can we create a system simple and flexible enough...
can players gather their teams together?
can players communicate effectively and efficiently?
can team-captains gather together and register their teams?
can team-captains communicate effectively and efficiently?
so far...
not quite
hehehehe
please bare in mind
we are conducting these tournaments with a sense of experimentation
to try out different ways...
without things falling apart...
heheheh

Meri: all that would be needed is a sign up deadline, say 2 days before the match, you can't sign up any more teams (but players can).
The idea that captains challenge each other seems a bit novel and clearly doesn't work, i think it would be ten times better if the Fixtures were set in stone and everyone knew where they have to play and when.
