Considering a Name Change (locutus)

Post by locutus »

so I have been thinking abotu changing my game name lately, even as coincidence, nic.b had mentioned that he saw someone else using the name "the loc" in another server, I actually saw this palyer later and played them but they would not answer any of my chat requests about their name. I won 103 - 12 and split.

Anyways, what do you guys think about me changing names?

been thinking about using an anagram or somethign else clever...

hard to say... names can be difficult

the most important thing is it's something you're comfortable with

hmm... CUT SOUL seems fairly good. the only decent name IMO to be made from LOCUTUS.

OTOH, LOCUTUS OF BORG comes up with an enormous list of possibilities...

well I was in a game tonight and "?" was playing name and code tricks..and then jaber joined in, took me a while to figure out what they were doing...but we can make names invisible with chat lines..so if a close frined calls you a name or something, check to make sure someone with a color code over their name isnt in the game at the time...

I had a whole conversation where the real me actually never spoke..it was all "?" going back and forth to make it look that way

I am keeping my name but going back to long version again, with possible color code to prevent things like this...

I never liked your abbreviated name anyways locutus. I hate being called Speed, when clearly racer is apart of the whole. But it is easy to let that one go. 8)
No, this is nothing like what subby was doing. All you need to do is go to your name entry, type in the empty field: oxooooo <-----This is the color code missing one more zero. If you use this as your name, or anyother combination of colors without using the last digit, your name will appear blank. It is clever but a little immature. I hope that one day, Armagetron will have the same respect as the Olympics. 8)

I would be bad if some idiot found out what i was doing and expoit it. Luckily i think it souldn't happen because if you can figure out the source code from z-man, you have to be very smart and therefore wouldn't do those childish things. The problem would be if someopne figured it out and then distributed the source ignorantly. The only people that i know of that can do what I did, is me and Marrow (he is the only one that I gave that piece of source).

AS for a new name

lsouctuutcuosl <-- hard to pronounce but can you see it ?
locvtvs <-- using the latin version of an 'u' ?

I was on goshdarn and nish last night (switched back and forth) and several people were screwing around with the hex names. Two were named cao and zapple (not sure if it was the real ones or not). cao was whining like a baby trying to get the code to do the invisible stuff. I'm pretty sure someone else does have the code that does what subby was doing. They were making people say things as well as chatting without the usual "playername :" prefix for chat lines. A bunch of imature morons spamming the server and making one not want to play. To those of you doing that (if you frequent these forums), "Do it on your own server and don't waste other people's time!" :x

Way to tell them off K. lol, but I don't they are members of the forum. I am not sure if the player that goes by "?" is responsible but I was on the grid about a week ago and overheard someone discover that they can input the code in their name to make it look blank. But when the server states their name, it says 0xffffff or whatever. So I was on today and him and his invisible friend discovered a new trick. It makes the name of thier choice say whatever they want without changing thier name. I assume they are only putting into their chat console the name in color code and then saying various stuff. They are rude, obcene and just ignorant to others. I hate them and I can't play with them on. :|

EDIT-I figured out the code they use for their name. It is "0xf + 2 more digits". I had a good time messing with this feature... of course, it can be used in the wrong hands, not that mine are any cleaner. 8)

i am using special characters to disguish myself from imposters...

úõ etc...

also, color codes before your name with random codes will also interfere with these childish games, of course this will affect your score on score servers when trying to look up your stats...
