How to Hood-Wink People into Sucking

Post by Marrow »

This is such an important part of the game, we should all discuss this topic as in depth as humanly possible.

my experience with those two... answer is: scheme.

get them in a talkative mood. get them in an experimental mood. act really impressed by anything they show you and keep saying "wow, that's so cool" especially when they accidentally crash doing it for you. "damn, i know you crashed, but that was the sweetest move i've ever seen. was it luck or do you think you could do it again?"

make them laugh. get them to tell a story or start making some tweaks that require the chatbot or better yet, get them stuck in the command line interface which i believe does not activate the chatbot. challenge them to do something daredevilish, like make an incredibly-elaborate spiral pattern.

get them on your side as part of a prank. talk about how so-and-so did something really nasty to you and how you'd love to pay them back by winning against them. then watch as they pull out their bag of tricks to aid your cause, up to and including even crashing into your trail if it'll help you win. commie, for example, is practically a mother theresa when it comes to this.

as i write all this down i'm kind of amazed at how much n54 and subby really are total pushovers and basically pawns for you to exploit. the funny thing is, they will probably know the whole time that they are being hoodwinked, and yet still cooperate. they get bored, you know...

and even after all that, they still clean up in the standings.

(geez, i must have pulled that from memory. i've barely played the last couple months)

that is good to know nico  i think you nailed it down pretty well

i have a suspicion that not having a strategy is the best strategy (hmm paradoxical... what to do what to do what to do....)

ok there's some things i think of more frequently than others:
- making my trail "crashable", won't get hits if it's not accessible - this includes not getting trapped too early, not continue circling around and around (unless you're closing the distance), try to spread the trail out (if it's all in one place it will "trip" fewer)
- go for direct kills and boxing as often as possible

but i don't think of this all the time, just more often than other stuff

another thing is that it can pay off to try to get or immobilize (box) the ppl with the highest scores to catch up or provide time to win

sometimes i get lost on the wrong side of the grid with nobody else close (and/or heading away from where i am) this is actually the worst (and most boring) but can be used to stage surprise attacks :D

sorry this all became tactics... number 1 strategy = have fun

and soon after that many of us forget about the fun part altogether.

conclusion? our egos create work for us where no work existed in the first place.

I'm unwilling to provide such favors just to advance my score on the grid. ;)
