Oh boy...

Post by Algerion »

Well, last night lsass.exe decided to go corrupt on me and shut down my laptop, so now win xp won't even boot. Red Hat 9 didn't see the whole drive, but Slax did, so I think I'm going to reformat and use slackware now, so I might be gone for a bit, hopefully everything will go smoothly though.

Slackware is a good choice.

My first operating system was Windows, then I moved over to Redhat, then to Slackware, then to a BSD environment so that I could program in AT&T assembly notation. I don't like linux assembly. Looks funny.

During that progression, my experiences with Slackware were enjoyable. Btw, it was Slackware 9.0. If I were to choose another OS (other than Windows), it would be Slackware. Some say Mandrake, Gentoo or the others. I guess everybody has their preference.

Anyway, good luck Algerion.

I've heard good things about slackware too. I have it all burned, just haven't gotten around to installing it anywhere yet...

my brother is trying to use Gentoo but its pretty complicated and you really need to know what you are doing, basically its too much of a pain to play with unless you have the time and patience

Gentoo != Slackware. Slackware is much more advanced and easier from what I've heard.
